TFC and the two Canadian USL-1 sides (Montreal and Vancouver) are expecting CONCACAF to include Canada in the upcoming Champions League. As such, they will be playing a tournament (league format, each team plays each other home and away, total points wins) this summer to determine the Canadian entrant. As such, Toronto automatically adds 4 games in the "Voyageurs Cup" tournament, and should they advance to the CL, another handful of games. TFC would stand to only play 45-50 games at most this year, which isn't too bad. But the top American MLS teams will be shouldering a heavy burden on such thin rosters, something that will definitely come into play when the new CBA is negotiated.
