I am not real sure. I haven't heard anything about the Dynamo in the national soccer media. Last I checked the Dynamo were going for their 3rd straight title which is unprecedented in the MLS. Last I checked the Dynamo have played 53 games this year and only lost 11. Last I checked the Dynamo have 5 international wins including teams like Atlante (Mexico), Pachuca (Mexico), and Municipal (Guatemala) and has drawn with teams like Saprissa (Costa Rica) and UNAM Pumas (first point ever by US club in MEXICO). Last I checked the Dynamo have won the reserve title despite the busy schedule. Instead we get to hear week after week about the Galaxy or about how we should feel sorry for the Revs b/c of injuries. I guess I am cool with silently winning a 3rd. At least that means there's no pressure on our boys. Anyways, I know im preachin to the choir but I just had to say it. What do I know, maybe the media is just scared of Craig Weibel..... ....they say he may be Obamas choice for Secretary of Defense....
me personally, i love the disrespect. keeps a ' chip on the shoulder' of our players (and our fans). disrespect away. when FMF teams/players/coaches/fans are asked to name the best team in MLS they name the Dynamo. that means a lot more than the crappy US soccer media, stupid fans on other team's message boards or silly Sierra Mist _____ of the year awards. look at my sig down below. read it, memorize it, live it.
Agreed, I like it too except for one thing (and the one thing that originally got me all riled up and that i ironically forgot to mention above) The fact that, of all 8 playoff games, neither one of the two Dynamo/RB games is nationally televised. I dont care about the lack of respect but rather the inconvenience. I like Palillo and all but i had to stay in houston to watch the game!
I believe MLS considers Telefutura as a national broadcast. I would venture to guess it will be available to more cable customers than Clb-KC will be on HDNet. Perhaps more than Chivas-RSL also, considering Telefutura is a basic cable channel on a lot of systems, and FSC is usually on a digital sports tier.
Telefutura is no where on Austin Time Warner Cable. Not available in anyway on that cable system. Isn't it the most minor of the spanish language channels?
not to mention it's ignored if a household doesn't speak Spanish. If a family gets Telefutura but doesn't speak Spanish, most of the time, unless they're big soccer fans, they don't realize they get it.
Telefutera comes on basic cable in New York and if you do not have cable, you can get it on a pair of rabbit ears.
I kind of hope Dynamo and MLS to get huge-it's this neat counter culture thing we have going with about 25K in this city alone. Kinda cool to see those with Dynamo gear around the country and know this is our team. People new to the city wonder what they hell this orange team is about-suits me just fine.
Hmmm. The Time-Warner website for San Antonio lists Telefutura - KNIC as being a local station and part of the basic reception package. It should be on channel 19. http://www.timewarnercable.com/CustomerService/CLU/TWCCLUs.ashx?CLUID=388&Zip=&Image1.x=14&Image1.y=7&Image1=submit If people live in San Antonio and say they don't get it I'm not doubting you but Time-Warner says you should get it. NOTE: for some reason I confused San Antonio and Austin in this post. San Antonio should have TeleFutura on their cable but Austin does not. Sorry about that.
According to the Univision/Telefutura site they broadcast on the following stations: TX Austin KBVO-CA 51 TX Austin - Bastrop KHPB-CA 45 TX Austin - Giddings KHPG-CA 31 TX Austin - Georgetown KHPX-CA 28 TX Austin - La Grange KHPL-CA 40 TX Austin - Round Rock KHPZ-CA 15 TX Austin - San Marcos KHPM-CA 40 I though that cable companies were required to carry local broadcast stations.
I remember discovering Spanish language television years ago in California with their scantily clad buxom beauties. Didn't have anything like it on the plain white bread stations.
Cable companies are not required to carry local low-power stations. I think that "CA" at the end of those call signs means those are low-power repeater stations. Cable companies do not have to carry those.
Check again. DC United attempted the feat in 96, 97 and 98. They won the first 2 titles and lost the 3rd against a certain expansion club. Not "unprecedented". Just rare.
Heck -- we just went through three weeks of Austin Time Warner not carrying NBC. Yes. Multiple over-air broadcast stations for cities 20 miles away from each other. That means they are very low power level stations. I've tried high tech nuclear powered rabbit ears, mulitiple brands, and none of them pick up a telefutura channel for me. A local sports house, The Tavern gets Telefutura. I've watched soccer games on Telefutura there. For some reason -- whenever the Dynamo have played on Telefutura that channel has shown something else or been blank. Now, I solve the problem by just travelling to the game.
Sorry, I didnt mean the run for the 3rd straight title was unprecedented, but rather the 3rd title itself.
"After February 17, 2009, if you are using over the air antenna or rabbit ears, blah blah blah blah blah."
First off those Dynamo fans in Austin if your not coming to battle in Houston, SHAME ON YOU (unless you have a God to honest good reason why) if you can't find a place where they show Telefutura go to this place 3rd Base. This is where I saw the Super Liga match against D.C... BE LOUD! Naranja Campeon!
