Just watching the NY Red Bulls vs Arsenal game and I notice the ARs are using the English Touchline flags rather than the usual Ervocom or OSI flags I normally see in MLS games. Presumably Arsenal haven't just brought a set of referees flags with them and told the ref to use them, so have I missed something and has Walton used his influence to introduce the good old quarter + plain flag system to America?

There is at least one MLS AR who has those flags. I've seen them in Philly a couple times.

I think the crew was from Puerto Rico (at least the referee was) so maybe that's what the use down there?

    Off topic trivia:

Prior to 1990 this was in Law VI:

"The linesmen should be equipped with flags by the club on whose ground the match is played."

    Doug the Ref repped this.
