This sounds like the plot line of a first episode of a new half hour comedy series on YouTube called “i hate Apple!” starring Bill Murray. Episode 1 “I just wanna watch some f**king soccer!” Episode 2 “Whadda you mean I gotta change my password!!!” Episode 3 “Why is the f**king internet down again??” Episode 4. “My new phone won’t activate! Piece of s**t!!!” Episode 5 “What the hell is Apple Pay? Why won’t you take my cash?” Episode 6. “My game ticket is on my phone? How the hell am I suppose to get it out???” Episode 7. “Two point authentication? What the f**k does that even mean?” Episode 8. “Why do I need an app for that???” Episode 9. “You don’t fix this sh*t and I swear I’ll come over and burn your f**king campus down!!!!!”
"We know what MLS wants from Apple. What does Apple want from MLS?" (The Philadelphia Inquirer - Wednesday, 2/8/23) What the MLS Season Pass streaming package looks like on (from left to right) an Apple TV connected to a television, an iPad tablet, and an iPhone. Overall, that article has interesting speculation. The reason that seems the most likely to me is Apple’s interest in developing a global audience, which comes true as more international players are signed, but particularly if Messi is signed. I guess the ultimate prize is to replace everyone’s cable box.
You are going to have to come to the party to get a taste of that Apple pie— Carlos Yustis (@CarlosYustisTV) February 9, 2023 Apparently there's some announcement related to Apple at the March 2 Season Hype Party
Are other MLS teams also holding hype parties on March 2nd? Kind of wonder if there will be a simultaneous announcement by all teams.
If so, I’d hope that it’s an Apple sponsorship exclusively with the Earthquakes. However, I highly doubt that it’ll be that, particularly since Apple’s current broadcast contract is with the league. If the news ends up featuring the Apple TV logo underneath the MLS patch on one of the jerseys’ sleeves, though, then that would be quite anticlimactic both because we already knew about that and because that’ll be a league-wide thing. Didn't somebody from the Quakes digital team say they were going to release more videos on Apple? I'll bet it's related to that. I'm not sure that qualifies as "a very important announcement" but it's not like the Quakes have never disappointed us before.
New crest that doesn't suck and is designed by professionals with no Kaval interference please (I know that's not it)
Apple as naming sponsor of the training facility at the fairgrounds. (This is not a serious prediction.)
I give up. Obviously APPLETV and MLS don't want to make it easy to watch the games this year so piss on them both, may they all contract anal cancer and die choking on their own blood.
MLS Season Pass has just added new content, including every MLS Cup final thus far (1996-2022). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
