This may be the one moment when sports coverage changes for good, if Apple were to win this. There might be repercussions States side down the road. The Daily Mail said that Google is interested as well. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...nt-Premier-League-TV-rights-Charles-Sale.html
Good grief. It is bad enough that ESPN think ESPN3 is a channel! As well as some posters on this board. I just want to watch it on my big screen in HD!
Well, exactly. Which is why you need an AppleTV 2.0, or a GoogleTV box, with HD output. The next-gen TV companies are hoping that sports programming will do for their set-top boxes what it did for pay-TV and cable TV in the 70s, and satellite TV in the 80s and 90s. There are some people who will buy a new gadget because they like new gadgets, but there are a lot more people who will do whatever they need to to watch their favorite teams live. Whether that's signing up for cable TV, or buying a satellite dish, or upgrading to a special package, or buying an AppleTV 2.0. They're hoping that once you've got the thing you'll buy sitcoms and movies and such, but they know that what will get you to buy it is sports.
