this was a cool thread despite some early trolling. I always wonder about nicknames.

they used to call Memo Ochoa "el periodista" cause of the headlines he'd make after his early successes in goal. also "tortas" cause at some point he sold tortas out of a truck with his family.

IIRC "Bam Bam" Zamorano got his nickname cause of his hair. apparently he looked like the flintstones character.

"Bebe" Pardo cause of his large front teeth that look like baby teeth.

Dunno if I've mentioned these before but some more that came to mind:

    "Mistiko" Gabriel Pereyra.
    "Snoopy" Perez
    "Chacho" Coudet
    "Piojo" Lopez
    Osvaldo Castro "Pata Bendita"
"Cepillo" or "Hermoso" Peralta. Is Hermoso supposed to be ironic cause he ugly?
    "Machin" Alvarez
Jared Borgetti "El Zorro del Desierto." Prolly Zorro cause of his Atlas roots...not sure about the desierto part.

    Afirmativo.

There was actually a journalist called Guillermo Ochoa that used to work for Televisa... Since América is owned by Televisa and Memo is his namesake, then the nickname...

I could have sworn I heard or read somewhere that Perro Bermudez gave him the "periodista" moniker because of his sudden rise to stardom. I think this makes more sense...
