Re: Apertura 2004 TV Schedule - Jornada 3

    Changes in Sunday's sked:
Pumas vs. Pachuca is postponed (due to the Pumas game Tuesday 8/31 at the Bernabeu). That game is rescheduled for Wednesday 9/8 at 20:30 local, presumably on Galavision.

Univision will have Puebla vs. Dorados live at 3 pm ET/2 pm CT/12 pm PT.

Galavision will air Atlante vs. Tecos on tape at 5 pm ET and 3 pm ET according to the Univision site.

Also, on an only-loosely-related note, Telemundo will show four of the six WC qualifiers the following weekend, three of them live:

9/4, 1 pm PT/4 pm ET United States v El Salvador (LIVE)
9/4, 3 pm PT/6 pm ET Mexico v Saint Vincent & the Grenadines (LIVE)

9/5, 11 am PT/2 pm ET Guatemala v Costa Rica (LIVE)
    9/5, 1 pm PT/4 pm ET Canada v Honduras (19-hour delay)

Fox Sports en Espanol has been sold a package of Mexican matches to show exclusively. They will not be showing the games of any one club, but will be showing various teams:

Fox Sports en Espanol Lands Exclusive Telecasts of Mexican Soccer League; New Agreement Grants U.S. Television Rights for Two Seasons

Aug. 25, 2004--Fox Sports en Espanol today announced it will carry an exclusive selection of Mexican League soccer matches under a two-year deal with the distributors of Mexican League rights.

A minimum of 26 regular-season matches per year will air exclusively live on Fox Sports en Espanol in the United States, starting on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT with the matchup between Jaguares and Atlas.

Fox Sports en Espanol's broadcasts in 2004/2005 will feature the league's top teams, including favorites Cruz Azul, Club America, Chivas de Guadalajara and defending champions UNAM Pumas, who just celebrated their 50th anniversary. The network will televise a total of 13 matches during the 2004 Torneo Apertura, which began in mid-August and will continue until late November. Following the Apertura, Fox Sports en Espanol will also carry 13 games from the Torneo Clausura between January and May 2005.

"We are pleased to offer our viewers exclusive matches from the most popular soccer league among Latino fans," said David Sternberg, General Manager of Fox Sports en Espanol. "With this agreement, we have clearly solidified our position in the fast-growing Spanish-language television marketplace, and our viewers, advertisers and cable and satellite distributors will all be the beneficiaries."

    Atencion!

I think we all need to take a moment out of are time spent here in the Mexico forum to give some [IMG] reputation to riverplate for the efforts he has put into keeping us all informed by means of this thread.

I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a good match I would have missed if it were not for this thread.

Thank you riverplate, your efforts have not gone unoticed!

The Saturday/Sunday sked is gonna change: the Mexico-St. Vincent's game has been moved to Sunday at 12:00 local (10 am PT/1 pm ET). Telemundo will amoost certainly air it live; no word yet on the domino effect (TM was going to show Guatemala-Costa Rica live at 11 am PT/2 pm ET and Canada Honduras on tape at 1 pm PT/4 pm ET).
Will update as information becomes available.

In a nutshell, the SVG team is stranded in Miami, as American Airlines cancelled a number of flights due to impending hurricane conditions. CONCACAF has made alternative arrangements, but they won't get to Pachuca until about 1 am Saturday. Of course, depending on weather conditions, that may change further.
