Sounds good ot me. I've only been to Rome once and it was a whirlwind tour so I will trust your judgment, just give us a yell and we will be there.
FYI for any New York area people considering a last minute trip to the Rome for the match...Continental is currently listing flights to Rome from Newark for $386 (thats including all fees and taxes!)
The match is sold out though and every ticket has the person's name and DOB on it. People who went to Milan last year said they weren't checking, but I don't know if it's worth the risk.
They never check, and if you leave entry to the stadium to the last minute, the police will just let you in to get you off the street. It's an 80,000 stadium so I am sure tickets will be available either at the ground or on the street at fair values. They don't have time to monitor 3000 away fans with tickets against I.D.
I had no trouble at the Champion's league final last year, and that was in Moscow, which is a much stricter city in terms of security in my experience. As long as your ticket is real and you aren't causing problems, you will be fine.
AS Roma Guide - Important information for fans traveling to Roma I heard there was some trouble Tuesday night on Holloway Road with 40 Ultras trying to storm a pub.
Got my tickets on Monday. I will give everyone a yell when we get settled Tuesday night. Everyone is still up for a get together right?
Definitely; I'm aiming to get into Rome Termini station around 5-5:30pm on Tuesday and then check into my hostel so I'd be able to meet up anytime after 7.
I don't know if anyone has researched the bar situation, but seeing as there are C/L games being played Tuesday night, maybe we could all meet up in a bar that shows them? Local time kick off will be 8.45pm.
Herts & Beds Gooners are planning to go to Scholars Lounge on Via del Plebiscito around the corner from Piazza Venezia http://hbarsenal.co.uk/hb/events/roma110309.html
I've spoken with some people on the Boards already, and for those travelling out, we have decided that this will be the initial meeting point for us on the Tuesday night. 7pm onwards. Hopefully they will be showing the Tuesday night C/L games. It should be okay for the day before the game. Once we all get together we can decide on other venues for the rest of the trip. See you there!
I have been in touch with my client in Rome and he has suggested we avoid the areas of Campo Sportivi and Piazza Venezia. His recommendation for watching the Tuesday night's games is at Finnegan's Irish Pub. They have Sky so we should get most of the action. http://www.finneganpub.com/ It's right near the Cavour Metro Stop and probably the safest place for the English to be. Cheers Craig (I'm travelling tomorrow with Jeff L!)
If it wasn't for the red bandana, I'd swear that you you J.P. ! (Mind you, I only saw you from the back !! ).
