I was watching Monday Night Football, and I saw a plug for the MLS final. This was a rather pleasant suprise. Al Michaels mentioned the team names, and Ruiz by name. Every little big helps.
We'll take every plug that we can get -- especially if it with an audience of millions of Americans. I was only watching the game in passing, but I didn't catch that comment. In the past, Michaels has mentioned that Gillette Stadium was christened by Major League Soccer, and he may have mentioned the Revolution.
At first, I was suprised they mentioned it, but then again, it was going to be broadcast on ABC so they probably had to mention it at sometime. It was also nice to hear Al say "now back to the other football" after the promo.
Al Michaels mentioned MLS? Do you believe in miracles!? Come on, I can't believe nobody else thought of that one...
Maybe MLS should hold the MLS Cup on monday night from 7-9pm instead of going head to head with NFL on sunday. An exciting finale would be seen by the masses gathering in the bars to see MNF.
Michaels didn't call it the greatest game in American Sports and say that soccer is greater than God. We should flame him for dissing the sport.
