I'm surprised the liberals haven't burned down cities etc Will there be another women's march?? Seems like abortion wasn't an issue. Vance will get even more of the last vote when women realize that abortion isn't banned, the left was gaslighting. Women ages 18-29 have had difficult time under bidens progressive communist policy
We fared worse than our peers in terms of handling COVID during Trump's term. We wound up with 341.11 deaths per 100,000 people, a good bit higher than most peer nations. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality Even before COVID, our economy was tepid, thanks in part to, you guessed it, tariffs: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ar-low-as-trade-tensions-weigh-idUSKBN1WG47G/ More here: https://mostlymodernmedia.com/economics/ We did better than a lot of our peer nations in terms of battling inflation during the recovery. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1034154/monthly-inflation-rates-developed-emerging-countries/ On crime -- I'd agree that presidents have limited impact. But what impact Biden/Harris DID have on crime was undeniably positive. More spending on police via the American Rescue Plan Act. Less crime. If you want to argue that the president has no impact, that's a legitimate argument. If you want to argue that Biden and Harris had a *negative* impact, the evidence clearly says otherwise. If your point is that people have a visceral rather than a logical perspective on crime and associate Harris, fairly or not, with the smarty-pants ivory-tower college kids who literally want to defund the police ... you're probably right. I have a relative who wants to get rid of prison. Not just switch from the American model, where prisons look like "Oz," to a Scandinavian model (which North Dakota, of all states, has adopted -- https://www.usnews.com/news/best-st...ays-approach-north-dakota-reforms-its-prisons ), but getting rid of them entirely. There've been times in the past few years in which I've found myself arguing with someone making such a pedantic and unrealistic point, and I've argued that such rigid ideology is a factor in driving people to support Trump. I'm sure you'd agree that I have a point there. In fact, there's a substantial chunk of the population that supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 but then opted for Trump. Further proof that the political "spectrum" is really a circle. (Or a dodecahedron or something.) https://www.npr.org/2017/08/24/5458...voters-ended-up-supporting-trump-survey-finds
Your responses bring to mind a malfunctioning bot given they’re non sequiturs that have little to do with what you’re responding to. But I’m thinking garden variety braindead troll is the more likely explanation.
On Monday and Tuesday, when all the indicators showed that Harris was likely to win, I planned to take an upcoming day off, hop on the Metro and walk around the National Mall, content that we would continue to have responsible people in charge. Instead, I've got four years ahead of going past the monuments and buildings that are sullied by the presence of a fraud, insurrectionist and sexual assaulter in the White House. Nauseating. But I fully intend to remain here until it changes -- not necessarily via a Democratic takeover, but after any election that puts the reality-based people who understand *public service* back in charge. Trump and his ilk have no concept of public service. They aren't even trying to serve all Americans. I may have disagreed with Reagan, the Bushes, Clinton, McCain or Romney, but I never doubted that they sincerely wanted the best for everyone. Now we've elected someone who wants to fire anyone who would even consider holding him accountable for his crimes and wants to replace people who've admirably served in government under both parties with inexperienced partisan lackeys.
this wll probably come as a shock but most liberals aren't interested in burning down cities but instead believe in peaceful protest, women have plenty to be upset about, including (losing) access to a safe abortion. maybe you've never been in a situation where access to an abortion was important to you and/or someone you care about, but I have...and I was grateful it was available and safe. Maybe you've never worked in adoption services and seen what goes into caring for all the kids who came into the world, unwanted. I have and its incredibly tough on so many levels...there are no easy answers, but Republicans are always reluctant to fund a lifetime of publicly paid for social services for people who struggle with the impact of being unwanted. and throwing around terms like communist, marxist and so on, makes you sound like an idiot. Bernie had some socialist baggage, but he was never getting elected. Otherwise, you're seeing center left Democrats mostly, running for high office. Same as its always been. Communism is a bogeyman like "they're coming fer yer guns!"...and all the other hillbilly nonsense that gets tossed around on the internet. You should step outside and meet some of these people you disagree with, as Harris said we have far more in common. You remind me of a monkey in a zoo who's so excited he can't control his impulses...you need to grow up. This will all come back around. It always does.
yep, its beyond disheartening, these people will fvck it up and Democrats will (once again) have to come along, be the adults in the room and clean up their mess. It's tragic, no doubt...but it's where we are and all we can do is get on with our lives as best we can, and hope there's enough of the country left to save, after the shitshow.
We really do have so many things in common. *Some* gun control. *Some* right to abortion. Medicare/ACA. Show people the policies without associating them with candidates, and the country really leans center-left. But the propaganda machine has proved to be formidable. https://beaudure.medium.com/the-dea...e-and-disagree-with-the-other-25-1f87fdf6a357
LOL. They just cannot get the fear mongering out of their system. Transexuals were just fine in the USA between 2016 - 2020 and will be so again until 2028. But no, let's get people to uproot their lives and move across the world because some treehugger teacher says so. Bon Voyage !
There's some guy who disagrees with you ... let me see if I can remember who it is ... oh, right ... Donald Trump:
Sounds like common sense. Remember that? That thing that caused the absolute RED battering on November 5. The French guys students will be just fine, no need to worry. I mean, biological males won't be able to invade female spaces and Tampon Tim Walz's policy's will be limited to his town in Minnesota. Suck it up, sally.
Hope you didn't injure yourself backtracking from the "everything will be fine" stance you just took. In the meantime, come on down and see me and my transgender daughter and say what you just said. But I would guess that the guy threatened by trans people is a keyboard-warrior coward.
The way COVID deaths are counted is irrelevant to my point which is that poorly-conceived lockdowns were a main driver of inflation. For what it’s worth the so-called “counting” was unreliable and unscientific. An illustrative example: my wife’s grandmother counted as a COVID death after catching COVID unconscious already on her deathbed from heart failure. You can cite an article showing manufacturing was down during Trump which is fine but I can just as easily Google articles showing that the average person had greater spending power in 2019 than 2024. My point here isn’t to convince you but to only show that asserting there is some objective economic truth behind the argument that Biden’s economic policies are superior to Trump and anyone arguing otherwise is lying or misinformed. On crime, Harris expressed the wrong policy preferences in 2021 or whatever and tried to fix it but voters don’t trust democrats on crime which is a major political issue right now. You can say “crime is down” overall (which I’m not sure is true after the FBI corrected their stats) but certain types of crime is up, and it’s crime that is visible and affects everyone living in or visiting a major American city. That’s property crime, drug use in public, public defecation, and other types of quality of life crimes. Of course, the president does in fact lead the federal law enforcement apparatus so it’s not like he or she has zero impact. ultimately I’m not trying to convince you of my position but show that it’s not as black and white as you have suggested and reasonable people can differ about which candidate’s approaches to these issues are a better fit for the country,
Then when you were reminded that your guy called for transgender people to be stripped of their legal status, you chortled along with it and said, "Suck it up, sally." So which is it? Do you think Trump doesn't mean what he said? Or are you just shifting wildly between tolerant and transphobic?
XX or XY No gender dysphoria here. Are you seriously asking me for sympathy for your biological male offspring to enter the public restrooms of my female family members? Give your head a shake.
Yeah, I'll agree with you that it's not worth re-litigating. (Neither are Trump's felony convictions and fines for fraud and sexual assault, but ...) I'll agree to disagree about how much of this is black and white and how much of an impact right-wing/Russia misinformation campaigns had. In a way, this isn't new -- in 1994, Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh convinced everyone the country was still in recession, and the Republicans made historic gains in Congress. (Also, that was around the time all the old racist Democrats became racist Republicans.)
Preferably, we'll see more of the single-toilet restrooms that are popping up in more places. The next best thing -- stalls with doors. Which is what they have in women's restrooms. Trans women go in and out of women's restrooms every day, and no one notices. This isn't the men's locker room at the Y, with a bunch of 70-year-old men who've never heard of towels wandering around. A trans woman going into a women's restroom is going to be as discreet as possible. Your female family members would be perfectly safe. Unlike, say, if they're around Trump, who has been found liable for sexual assault and has bragged about "grabbing them by the p----." And since Election Day, young men have been taunting young women that women's bodies now belong to the men. Yes, there are men openly talking about how they're emboldened to commit sexual assault. And you're worried about a woman in a restroom?
Yeah man and in 1994 dems were totally cool with supporting a president with multiple allegations of sexually abusing women and who lied under oath which is a crime as well. Full circle as you said.
Yes, that was gross, and 30 years later it likely wouldn’t fly. And yet Clinton’s allegations pale in comparison to Trump’s. It’s a pretty weak both sides attempt.
Who the ******** are you? 13,000 Messages on a soccer message board and NOT ONE is about the sport? At least my presence here is soccer-related. Go away.
I don’t understand why are people so upset? We had democratic elections every 4 years. Liberals, democrats lost every hope. Republicans think that salvation will arrive. Silly utopia stories about the improvement, quality of life. After Trump someone else will replace him. That’s why it’s silly to vote anyway. Democrats had the best candidates. Harris, Biden. Republicans had the best candidate. Trump. Imagine the quality of other Republicans and Democrats? If those three were the visionaries of their own parties. It’s interesting to see in which states Republicans win? Not so desirable states to settle in.
Clinton was never found liable in court, but yeah, definitely some character issues there. It's a pity, because he was a pretty effective president. Best president of my lifetime in terms of character was clearly Jimmy Carter. Best in terms of policy was Clinton. I'd actually rank Nixon pretty highly except that he dragged his feet on the Vietnam withdrawal. Best if you average out character and policy was probably Obama. I've got a lot of respect for Ford, too, as well as Romney and McCain. I wonder if the latter two might have won if they had chosen better running mates.
He's such an idiot - he confuses and conflates the terms "men" and "male" and "women" and "female". He has no understanding of biology whatsoever. And for the idiot's supporters, "male" and "female" are terms relating to biological sex - there are also people who are intersex, and therefore not either "male" or "female". There is also a difference between phenotypic sex (what your genitals are) and genetic sex (what your genetic code is), given that not everyone with XY chromosomes will develop a male body and not everyone with XX chromosomes will develop a female body. Sometimes XX people are male and XY people are female in their phenotypes. Gender terms "men", "women", etc describe what role someone plays in society. Consider how "boys" are not "men" even though both are usually, but not always, male; likewise we do not call a 3 year old female a "woman" because she is not a woman, she is a girl. Some cultures traditionally recognize 5 different genders. Western society operates on a flawed understanding passed down to us by Bronze Age West Asian cultures who did not understand genetics. Given how we grow and develop, the development of the genitals is a different process than the development of the brain. As such, how the genitals masculinize" is not always aligned with how the brain "masculinizes". As such, sometimes there is not "agreement" between the genitals and the brain, which basically results in people being transgender.
