In 2000 the only game I was able to track down was the final after it was replayed on ESPN or ESPN2 about a month after it was played. Does anyone know who'll be carrying Euro '04 this time? Will it be pay tv? On Cable? On spanish stations or am I just S.O.L. this time around? If this is the wrong forum for this question I apologize in advance.

The history of European Championship on US TV:

1980: it's on some ethnic channels (don't remember whether it's S.I.N. or not). A friend of mine taped the final from New York and loaned me the tape. I watched the 1980 final in the middle of 1981.

1984: S.I.N. (that's the predecessor of Univision). They cut off the penalty shootout of Spain/Denmark semi-final, probably they didn't reserve enough time for satellite transmissions.

1988: I somehow taped the semi-final game between USSR and Italy on channel 31 (ethnic channel) of New York, which showed RAI Italia programming. But I didn't watch the game until 1998 since for 10 years, I didn't even realize I taped this game.

Don't know whether Univsion carried this tournament.

    1992: no idea

    1996: ESPN and ESPN2

2000: Setanta had the exclusive American rights. They also put a package on DirecTV, Dish Network and digital cable. FSW and Univision had some games on delay. RAI Intl. and TV5 also tried to show some early round games but got stopped by Setanta.

The best deal to watch the Euro is to bypass Setanta and get a Canadian DBS. All the games will be on TSN.

    Great info!!!

I just heard that Dish Network has recently joined DTV and Cable InDemand in broadcasting Euro 2004 on PPV, same price $179 for the entire tournament. Check it out in Setanta.com or soccertv.com!!!

I was wondering if I could have a Canadian Satellite system if I live in USA?

    How about Dish Network discramblers???
