Yes, I'll be going. I can't see it being a well-attended game, though, as it will probably not be promoted beyond what any Fusion game ever was.

Odd that you should mention it, but I was thinking of making a flag about Horrorbitch. I'm too lazy to make one... but I'll help you hold yours up :)

Me entire family will be at the game. I'm not sure how many will be there as the game has not been promoted in any way. You would think USSF would have at least bought a 1/2 to 1/4 page add in the Miami Herald or Sun Sentenel Sunday edition by now at the very least!

On another note: I hope someone, maybe some of those nuts at the ole afusionados futbol club will make a large banner for Garber and friend showing our discust at the league for droping our Fusion or in a more positive note maybe pleaing for the return of our beloved Fusion and Ray Hudson. I still can't believe AEG and Phil Anshultz bothered to buy the San Jose Earthquakes when they could have bought out the Fusion. The Fusion would have been a much better deal unless Horrorwitz was the problem....come to think of it Horrorwitz probably WAS the main problem.

    I am going...

    and... wearing red.

I will be supporting the USA team, not the MLSers that will be making it up. ;-)

Still... I hope that Chad McCarty and Steve Ralston make the game day side, and get some good playing time.

Changes since BA announced who would be in camp:
The original 27-man complement has seen minor alterations since the roster was announced Dec. 23. The Columbus Crew duo of Brian McBride (loan to Everton) and Kyle Martino (injury) were forced to withdraw. Newly acquired MetroStars defender Eddie Pope, coming off minor knee surgery in October, worked out with the trainers and spent the afternoon in the gym. Meantime, Chicago Fire midfielder Chris Armas elected to continue rehabilitation in New York. Tony Sanneh will return to Germany on Jan. 11, shortly after the arrival of defender Cory Gibbs, who makes his first appearance in a Men's National Team training camp beginning Jan. 9.

    PPV ???

The game is PPV? Oh, no... that means a low tv audience as well. The bodies in charge need to get these games in front of as many people as possible to grow interest in the game. Being PPV, they are just preaching to the choir :(

A small core group of Mutiny fans will be amongst Sam's Army. We are bringing the drums and the Mutiny banner.

OH NO!!! Yet another sad SHOCKER.

This one is almost unbelievable, they did this without telling anyone not even Alumni or Golden Pather Club members!!! All they could say was "effective immediately", incredibly rude and inappropriate.

FIU's athletic director has just elimated men's soccer as a sport at the University.

An utter slap in the face to alumi, soccer enthusiasts and the community at large. It puts no importance to its history and accomplishments of the past. You would have thunk Track and Field as well as Crosscountry or Volleyball had some kind of special history in S. Florida. But NO... is men's soccer that gets the boot. Their lone national championship plus several sub-championships... most recently in 1996 where they went all the way but lost to St. John in the final...meaningless.

    Here is the story http://www.fiu.edu/orgs/athletics/

I was a bit depressed at the end of this game.

Q: What does it mean that there were 3 times as many people at the Orange Bowl compared to Lockhart?

    no excuses to be made...
    none are necessary
The area as a whole, did well... 2 venues
surely the Canada game had no interest locally
or pretty much nowhere in USA.. the Fans
were 6600 USA fans... that is more than in other
Nat. games (as US contingency is concerned)
Do you think they would of done, better in NY or
DC, or NE on Sat...with a more desirable venue
    30 miles away ?????
    this was not USA-Argentina
Canada ???? I did my patriotic duty, and went
froze my arse off... for Pablo, and Rimando, Mathis
and his Gut, and the rest of the lads.

How many USA fans do you think they got last
November in DC at the USA-El Salvador game ?
out of the 12,000,, maby at best a couple thousand.

it proves nothing..actually was not bad.
27,000 soccer fans out at 2 venues 30 miles
apart...shows 1 thing, people here love their soccer.

last week 31,000.. make it interesting, and put
out a good product, and the fans will come out.

I wish something could be done about TicketMaster. In the days leading to the game, they pretended that all $17 tickets were sold, as were all $25 tickets. The cheapest ticket you could buy was $40 plus $7 fee. What BS that was! You could buy the $17 on the day. Mind you, you needed to pay cash, as the venue didn't even take credit cards!

With 20 minutes of the game gone, there were still people lining up to get in as the arrangements couldn't cope with "so many" walkins. The whole thing was a fiasco. Let's hope the Orange Bowl can do a better job :/

"They" sold out of all the cheap tickets, (ticketscalpers) and hundresds, just left..

not that it matters 6549 was the number sold by ticketmonster

    I would not pay for 2 tickets, $ 94...
    for friggin Canada u22..

Someone made the decission, not to sell
the West side...Lockhart was at least half
    full...there were 1500 plus extra,...with VIP
freebies, and youth club specials..and the ones
    that jumped the fence ;-)

Good job, sFlaStrikers fan club...a few members,
got a couple hundred people to come out.

Is'nt friggin Horrorwitz that leased the venue to
    US Soccer !
just like in the old days...with no clue, and understaffed, cheap...cheap...cheap....way
    out, expecting great returns

    But overall, was not bad...

Did you see the banner....S side section 104, top

    MLS please come back...

It should of red, AEG league go to hell, Garber
    & Cronies included.

    Hey fellers,

I went to the game with my family all the way from Kendall and am now more than convinced that Lockhart is nothing but a piece of crap. Sorry, I know all you guys from PB love it since its the lone stadium nearby, but it TRULY sucks bigtime for Miami-Dade fans... we don't only have to deal with the dam distance but since live in the metropolis of the area we have to deal with much more traffic...(traffic jam packing up the 836/Dolphin as 20k people jammed it up trying to get to the OB while I had to drive another 40 minutes north.

    It simply makes no sense.

Lockhart itself is a disgrace of a stadium. Horowitz tried to spoof it up a bit but there is only so much you can do with crap. Its Rinky Dink by all standards the facility itself and the people who run the place... don't kid yourselfs. And the OB, yes its greatly out of date, but its still a major facility know world wide... not to mention its most important trait, the location.

PS: You know, I am big US soccer fan for nearly 20 years, whach'in the young Tab Ramos and Valderama play in the Marlboro Cup of Miami 1985-86. However, the next time there is anything going on in Lockhart, I will probably go, but I will seriously think about it. The place does not take advantage of S. Florida's large soccer populace and on top of that the facility is a disgrace to S. Florida and run by a bunch of idiots. (By the way Horowitz does NOT own the stadium, its Broward County)

I don't think Lockhart is that bad, Mike. Sure the distance is horrible (I live in Kendall, too), but the stadium can't be blamed for that. On the plus side, parking is cheap (or free if you park off-road, which is perfectly safe and plentiful) and it is walking distance to a decent pub (ex Tudor Inn, now Frog and Toad) - The Orange Bowl parking is a ripp-off and I haven't seen or heard of pubs walking distance away.

What I don't like about Lockhart is the ticketing facilities and bathrooms (too few.)

But, Lockhart is great for walking around end-to-end at half-time, etc., and being so close to the action.

In our climate, I would love a roof, but neither statium has that.

Whichever statium has the matches, though, I will go to for the few matches we have.

Thank you for hearing my pain fellers. However my basic point is still the same. While I also like Lockhart for similar reasons there is really nothing particularly unique to the facility. Its intimacy is there soely because of its very size, its small. I'm sure you can argue that the OB itself could be intimate if you cut out 50k seats around the inner 20K seats. Lockhart is nothing more than an OLD high school stadium with seats placed where 2 old "grandstand"/bleacher type benches stood(the N/S stands) and aluminum benches placed at the end zones... which become BURNING hot on a mid-summer's day. That compounded by the fact that its placed considerably north of the general populace nucleus makes it a poor faciliy for any particular sport which relies on the entire commerciabilty of the entire region.

Also Ieca, as I stated previously, people from PB do have to "travel the same road", however the distance is only half the problem. When you live in a conciderably denser AND more populated area(M-D county) you also have to deal with much more traffic headaches while persons comming from PB generally are going against traffic. Personally, I rather drive a longer distance than have to deal with traffic. In this senario we have the bulk of the populace interested in games being conciderably inconveinenced by having to deal with the worse of BOTH senarios... dealing with the long distance and more traffic on the way.

PS: Excuse my impulsivity, but I also didn't tell you the entire story of my trek to the game on Saturday. Above taking over an hour to get to the game(distance + traffic) I managed to get to Lockhart about 5 miniutes prior to the start of the match with plenty of cars behind me still comming in. Exicted along with my family, we rushed to get tickets. When I noticed the LONG lines just to get tickets(CASH ONLY)... something I had never seen for Fusion matches with larger attendances. Initially I thought this was going to be a sellout walk-up croud when I notice they only had TWO, yes that TWO persons selling tickets at the ticket booth(there is about 6 or 7 ticket counter's yet they had 4 or 5 closed!!!). When trying to notify the girl in the booth that she should get some help I noticed at least 3 other persons inside. ??who knows what they were doing?? By the time I got in it was 8:15, less than 5 minutes left in the half and I had missed 3 of the 4 US goals.

With all its problems, rest assured, you will never have do deal with these kind of problems comming from Broward & PB to watch a game at the Orange Bowl.

Though its tough getting to that empty "caldron" of the north from Kendal you can certainly bet I'll be there especially if Freddy Adu will be there.

Do you know if the 13 year old futbol phenom will be there. I'd love to catch a glipse of this kid.

PS: ??why must they play at lockhart?? I can just about guarantee twice the attendence having this game played at Tropical park or even FIU soccer stadium... or anywhere in Southwestern Miami-Dade. What pulls US soccer toward Lockhart I'll never understand cause it certainly isn't people(and more $$$) in the stands.

Good to see all the Kendall folks on BS. I'm one too.

    Regarding the 26th, I think that's a U20 match-up. Either way, I am making plans to attend.

Mike T & Stuart, we can try to hook up sometime to make the trip to Lockhart if interested.
