I know theres an uncertainty bout Landon and Beckham.

But is anyone actually excited bout the upcoming season??

I am.. obviously when landon and beckham leave we will get two good replacements hopefully..

so wat i think is hurry up and start the season i think without the beckham circus and added pressure we will do better than last year

Honestly, I was excited till I heard that Becks will be back. Now that Barnum & Baily have picted their tent at the HDC, I am less enthused as I was a week ago.

Nevertheless, I guess the only cure for the blues is winning, and to cure the discontent I feel for Becks and Milan (I will be rooting for Jose and the boys against AC), we need to have a positive season. But for now, things are looking uncertain :(

I'm excited. But I'm in LARS and therefore usually have a different gameday experience than the other 26600 people at the HDC.

I'm super excited, and more so for my two sons who will be experiencing their first galaxy season. Can't wait to share the experience with them and have a blast at the HDC! I know everyone is angry right now, but the game is bigger than DB and I'm there for the team and the beautiful game of soccer, if DB is there, so be it, let's hope he can help us win it all!

I too am excited. It's a new season. Even Cubs fan is excited before a new season.

Bruce knows MLS and American soccer, so he should have a team that is more prepared for the long haul (i.e. - not more fizzling out after the mid way point). We'll see; it doesn't seem that all ofthe holes are quite filled, but there is certainly is improvement, especially if Omar can bring it. The stars may be disgruntled to start, but they are pros and they will play their game no matter what. they may not want to hump the leg of the Galaxy as much as ACM or Bayern, but once they are competing it should all fall into place. It doesn't do either of them a bit of good to dog it and I don't believe it will happen.

If I was waisted, I might not be able to sit in my seat. But you could get waisted if you spend to much time getting wasted.

Beckham is coming back to be our amazing DP, and since Landon's DP slot is grandfathered in and for only him, we can only replace him with a normal salaried player.
    Tony Sanneh float your boat?

this is what we were saying last year
    we didnt

Instead we finished in joint last

No! I don't want Beck on the team, especially if he doesn't want to be on it. Landon should stay in Europe. While every other team in the league has been making good signings we have done jack SH*t. I look forward to another non playoff season.

I don't think you are making a valid point.

First approximately 31% of the expected salary cap for 2009 (2.425 mil) is tied up in the salary cap components of DB and LD salaries. Until their situations are worked out, Arena does not have a lot of room to work with.

Second with respect to LD while you say he should stay at Bayern, its highly unlikely that Arena and the Galaxy can find another striker who is half as good for LD's salary cap hit. Please also remember that even if they used all $500k they would get for a salary cap increase for selling LD (and they don't apparently have an offer yet from Bayern), that increase is only good for 1 or 2 years unless they also trade for a DP slot.

Finally, what are all these good signings that everyone else are making? Sure Seattle signed a bunch of players but they also didn't have any prior contracts to deal with.

I'm on your side of the bet. There are finally enough pieces around Beckham for us to really make an impact. It would have been a shame if he left before this season.

We have to have a backup plan if Donovan stays in Europe. We would be able to get DaMarcus Beasley, but we would also need another Forward. The Forward would preferably be a big, target-type in that scenario. Maybe Alan Gordon could become that guy. Kirovski is another guy who could break-out.

That being said, if healthy, Michael Owen would be a beast on our side with countryman Beckham.

Andriy Shevchenko is another guy who could light up MLS. Perhaps Milan could give us a good deal on him since they are getting one with cash-cow Becks. They hardly use Shevchenko anyway. His American wife could appreciate a move to L.A.

Sometimes, when you go for a ride your body craps out, your muscles are spent, you end up wet and cold, you plant yourself on your handlebars or on the ground a few times too many and you come home bruised and bloodied - I wouldn't say I enjoyed the ride during most of it, but once it's done I'm still glad I went, and I can look back on it as quite the experience. Who's ready for 2009 LA Galaxy? I am.

I am a Galaxy fan so of course I am excited.

But there is something that has had me feeling a bit disenfranchised over the past couple of seasons...

Who is the face of the Galaxy. I don't mean who goes on the posters to sell tickets, I mean who is the player that is associated with being the heart and soul of the team. In the past we have seen players such as Cien, and Cobi take this role. Pete kind of filled this role last year, but he wasn't a 90 minute player so his influence wasn't on the field and I don't think he had the locker room.

This isn't necessarily the fault of the players. Most of the players end up traded or otherwise off the team in less than 24 months. Why on Earth would any player with half a brain develop any sort of attachment to a club that he feels he will be leaving soon? I understand the need to improve the team, but does it really have to be a wholesale change every season?

There is no core of players that can be built around, there is no heart and soul. I miss that, I miss it a lot.

I'll admit that the act of setting my TIVO up to record a couple galaxy games this week have gotten me pumped.

I can't believe we'll be watching the Galaxy again in the near future.

I remember last years pan pacific cup when our first match our central defense looked terrible and allowed an easy and quick goal right up the middle. It was quite the omen for the year that was to be.

Hopefully we don't see that on Wednesday.
