After all the carrying on and threats of violence coming from the Dallas corner, I've pretty much decided that Dallas is my most reviled (in fact, the only reviled) team in MLS. Anyone else feel that way (who didn't already?) G.
Frankly, I feel sorry for any team forced to call that Dragon home. I'll revile you two years from now, when you're sitting pretty in your new stadium.
Your hatred (and pity for Dragon Stadium) is most welcome. Sorry to ruffle your feathers with our "carrying on" and "threats." In order not to upset you any further (after all, you've suffered so much) I'll just say that Karma has a funny way of seeing that reckless a-holes that go around thoughtlessly hurting people get their just desserts.
Now, try since time began (or at least last season). Of course, as a Rapids fan, it's expected of me.
I never did like Dallas. Before it was because of Ariel Graziani and their rough style of play. Now I just don't like them, because they are them.
I don't worry about Dallas. From a Rev fan's perspective, they are pretty much last on the list of hated teams. Considering they are the only team we have a winning record against, it's easier to get bent out of shape over a team that beats you. Hence our indifference. Although I did meet an obnoxious Burn fan from Fort Worth at a Nats game, but I can't hold that against a whole team. We hate the Mutts most (regional rival), then I would say Chicago (last year's playoffs, Auntie stomping on Heaps' nuts, Bradley whining, and most of all, certain fans who see a conspiracy in everything). Then comes DC. The laig-breakers and the Geordie Bastard make it easy to hate them. Columbus and El-Lay would be next. We've had some good games with the Cows in recent years, and Ruiz and Cobi Jones are punks. San Jose comes next, simply because of all the hype over The Baby Jesus. The Fat Bastard is always a reason to hate Kansas City, but I have to say that it's waned since he moved away from Mutt-ville. Colorado and Dallas are so far off the radar screen that no one here really cares about either one of them, although I suppose I'd have to hate the Rapids more because of a stupid uniform change and the pity factor of playing in Dragon Stadium. Tom
This thread should have been: "Anyone else hate whatever team Dema Kovalenko is on." Dallas fans would make you honorary keeper of the Brimstone Cup for that. Actually, under the Dir/Newman years, the Dallas-KC rivalry was pretty intense. Each team always won at the other place, seems like. Of course, the game in 1997 where this Wizard gets tackled about 10 feet out of bounds infront of the Wizards bench didn't help DAl-KC foreign relations any. However, now I don't mind the Burn so much. Being from Texas originally and rooting for the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, and Longhorns makes it difficult to have a burning hatred for the Burn. And, if they everyone ever pans out, they have some serious talent. Countess, Gbandi, Suarez, Bonseu, Vaca, O'Brien, Martinez, Johnson-- That's all some pretty serious young talent, if they (like Johnson) ever fulfill it. They could be pretty nice to watch in 2 years (or after Southlake).
When I lived in Dallas, I was comforted by the fact that nobody liked the Burn, but they didn't hate us. It's like a DC fan going, "Who are we playing this week? Dallas? Oh, that's nice." Now that I live in Los Angeles, I'm even more thrilled by the fact that EVERYONE hates us. We are the most reviled team in MLS. Life is good... tm
Tom, I think this thread is worth if for that post alone. 99 reasons to hate everyone! I especially like the bit about the Baby Jesus. Perhaps being so near Chicago has split my loyalties just enough to make this business about Kovalenko pretty annoying. That and the fact that he is a Hoosier, after all. Still how could I forget the winning record? G.
Becuase he schooled your team time and time again, yes those were the days, now we have new people to do it, but still it was fun to watch Graz on fire in the '99 playoff campaign. oh and Guinho is a tool
Do you mean like when Karma caught up to O'Brien for pushing Etcheverry into the boards well after a whistle? Make sure you know the action and reaction bits before waiting for a karma payoff.
Ah yes, the Graziani glory years. Dallas fans are always living in the past bringing up all of the trophys they won with the Little Mermaid filling the nets. putz.
The Right Honorable Sundevil9 speaks wisely.... ...but in the ways of Quantum Mechanics and Causal Connectivity, the Dallas contingent features numerous functioning shamans with Quark Analysis Capability in addition to full proficiency with most of the best tea-leaf instruments, including I Ching hexagrams and Thoth Deck divinations. Make sure YOU and YOURS contemplate the objective opinions on this matter emanating from all non-aligned parties before casting subjective pronouncements and proclamations. Praise Bob. Praise the Laser Projekt. =bs
To answer the topic question: No. DC United has moved up in the ranks of teams that I hate(second place) with the galaxative vermin in front of everybody else
I have to echo Beerking's sentiments. However, it really fluctuates from year to year, with the Galaxy being the only constant. But even then, I can't completely hate them as I support MLS as a whole entity. D.C. is a tough team for me to dislike because I like alot of their players: Convey, Stewart, Nelsen, Reyes, etc. I don't like the way Stoichkov and Kovalenko have been playing, and I particularly did not appreciate Hudson's comments. He'd probably make a fine play-by-play guy but I sure don't like him as a coach. As for Dallas, no. I sympathize with them. Who here wouldn't want to punch a guy who just broke the leg of the main cog in your team's attack? If someone broke Mulrooney's leg or Ekelund or Landon's leg, I'd be pretty riled up, and I'd especially be disappointed with the action the league had taken (if it was like the one they took now with Dema.)
