I want a new tv. Our 19" Toshiba is about to give up the ghost. I started doing research into HDTV, and thought we'd buy a direct view 37" tube. Then I thought about getting a plasma. Finally we decided on a front projector with a 92" diagonal 16:9 screen. We haven't bought yet, but I'm looking at a couple of different models. Sony has this new LCD projector coming out next month, the VPL-HS10 Cineza (http://www.projectorcentral.com/projector_details.cfm?part_id=1861) that looks pretty amazing. I'm thinking Christmas, and Jan agrees. Does anyone else here have a front projector? Any opinions on CRT vs LCD vs DLP vs DILA?
I just want to point out that 92" is eight feet eight inches, or about as wide as an average NYC apartment. Fahrenheit 451, anyone?
Re: Re: Anyone else have a projector Well, I was looking at direct view HDTV sets, and rear projection sets, and figured, for the same amount of money we can have something that is huge. I can't wait to see soccer on this thing, especially in HD format. Like the Fahrenheit 451 reference.
Be sure to check out the forums at http://www.avsforums.com/avs-vb/ Lots of good info on the various digital projectors. Me, I don't have one yet. It'll wait until I get out of the condo and on to the future horse farm. The wife is actually willing to let me build a real theater!
I have an 8 mm projector and a bunch of movies of some people on a Mormon retreat. Actually, I don't have them, my does. He found them on the sidewalk and lugged them all home.
my uncle and aunt have a 36" wega, and if you're going for the non-hd flat screen route, those are the way to go, the picture is just incredible tho i'm sure hd, plasma are much better than it now
