Don't know if it was just me. But did anyone get fooled on McBride's nutmeg? I thought it was a goal and started jumping around like I won the lottery. Could have been the goal of the year.

I had no choice but to watch it on Telemundo even though I prefer it in English. Cantor even got fooled and started the goal call.

Seems like every US fan at the game went crazy for about 10 seconds.

    guilty.

i started screaming in joy, and then like 10 seconds later that degenerated into a bunch of "************!!!!!! ************!!!!! ************!!!!!!!" yells.

The Summers crowd (Arlington, Va.) went nuts, too. But that's because there were a lot of DC United fans itching for a goal ....

Wonderful! I feel like less of a jerk knowing many others thought it was a goal, too. Wouldn't have happened in Europe with the no-rear-frame style of goals.

I was at the game. It happened right in front of me - first row at the 18 - and I could have sworn it went in. We went nuts!! Absolutely nuts!! Then they're doing a goal kick, and I'm like why are they doing that. We just knew it went in. Incredible.

I still thought it went in. I couldn't hear the game at Lucky Bar and the replay looked like they called off sides (horribly). It didn't go in?

For about half a second I thought "did that go in? Holy sh!+!!!". The way it bounced off the netting is the clue - it can be very deceptive. From that angle the ball should've come out more towards the middle of the goal had it gone in.

I did continue to have doubts, however. Even the replays kept pushing my "man that looked like a goal" button.

This person who I was watching the game with somehow knew that it wasn't a goal. He was just cracking up at how I was celebrating.

I just knew it wasn't a goal by the way McBride reacted. But in between the point were it looked like it went in and McBride's lack of a reaction, I got caught up in the we just scored reaction/

Honest to God I wasn't fooled for a second because I'm trained to hear:

    "McBRIDE - JUST WIDE!!"

I and those in my section were guilty, 23rd row in one of the corners on that side of the field. Lot of cheering, Mexican fans swearing. They realized n goal first yelling ''no gol'' at us.

Ditto to this. I was going nuts, and people at the lucky bar started chanting "USA". At least I didn't hug the people around me in a frenzy like I did on the Sanneh non-goal v. Germany. That was reallly embarrassing.

But man, McB's would have been a friggin' brilliant goal, eh?

It sure did. If it's close just watch the player -- their reaction will tell you if it's a goal or not. I thought it might be in at first, but you could tell McBride knew it wasn't in.
