That's a beautiful stadium. Reminds me a bit of the pictures I've seen of Arsenal's new stadium that they'll begin in using in 2005 (?)

Nice one,mate....I'm off work on wednesday so I'll give it a try! I've never got my head round that part of the city, but I used to drive past the gasworks when my lad was in Booth Hall hospital,so I reckoned on that being the best way!

When city move it will make Saturdays a bit easier where I live, altough more dificult to get to the games. My road is always full of city supporters cars.

Anything been decided as to what's going to happen to Maine Rd?

As a part of the deal that gave City a long term (100 year?) lease of "City of Manchester Stadium" the city took over ownership of Maine Road. So it's the local council and not Manchester City FC that decides what will become of Maine Road in the future.
At the moment there is an offer out to Sale Sharks Rugby Union Club to move to MR. Sale Sharks is the best Rugby Union club in the Manchester area and holds 2nd place in the Rugby Union Premiership right now. Sharks plays their home games in a stadium that holds less than 6000 and regularly has to turn people away at the gates. If the Maine Road move becomes reality the capacity will be lowered from today’s 34000 to ~20000 but it will still be the largest rugby union stadium in England if you don't count Twickenham.
The Sharks will have to work hard promoting themselves if they are going fill the stadium on a regular basis but they look well organised and unlike many other Rugby Clubs they have their economy in order.
I personally hope this deal goes through, It would be great if Maine Road will continue as a sports stadium.
If the Sharks deal falls through it is not unlikely Maine Road will be demolished.

Whatever happens with that, it remains a fact that many City fans will shed more than a few tears when the squad play their last home game. I would think that City fans would take it even worse than being in Division 2 a couple of years back.
