I only caught the end, but Dunphy and Giles were both rantings about the manager job situation, and I have to say I agree with every word that came out of their mouths. As Dunphy said, we'd of been better off with George Hamilton getting the shortlist, and interviewing people is absolutley stupid. This interviewing process cost us Bob Paisley in the past for christ sake, the only thing that matters is their CV.

They also raise a good point about Kinnear, in that he's the only one there still employed, he COULDN'T do an interview, it would have been simply impossible. If he did an interview and didn't get the job, what do you think the Luton board and fans will think about the situation?

Dalgleish, I agree with them again, is head and shoulders above the rest in achievements. The Celtic situation was nothing to do with his ability as a manager it was just a mess of a situation, he still won titles with Liverpool and bloody Blackburn. Why should he have to do an interview, which knowing Dalgleishes less then charismatic personality, is hardly going to be world class, when he's proved all he needs to. Now, someone like Reid can come in, use his likeble personality that he does have and the FAI will prefer him to Dalgleish or Kinnear? It's absolutley stupid.

And even Dunphy admitted weather the manager will pick Keane or not shouldn't be taken into consideration, and Roy Keane would feel the same way. We need to appoint the best man for the job and then let him, Roy and the squad decide what will happen.

This whole situation is one more vintage FAI ****************** up in a long line of them, if we end up with bloody Peter Reid or, worse still, Bryan Robson because of this I don't think anybody will be happy.

    The current situation

Would have to agree with you there, Dunph and Giles where spot on with the whole situation.

It was rumoured Alex Ferguson was to take the job to pick the manager however the FAI in their infinitite intellegence picked the legendary Brian Hamilton... from there things can only go down hill

No matter who are the canditates to take the job... rest assured the FAI will find the worst and install him with the longest contract they can afford... and then extend it after constantly failing to qualify for anything... oh bliss.

Im a Luton supporter as well supporting Ireland and it puts me in a difficult spot, I know Joe is a great manager and hes done nothing short of a miracle with Luton. Hes turned the club around in such a short time working on a limited budget.

Mike Watson-Challis, Lutons chairman offered Joe a job for life with the club and Joe turned it down. I think hes got a year or two left on his current contract and I hope to god its renewed.

I think Kerr is a great manager of youth players but lets face it there is a massive difference between the youth game and senior level!. I would like to see Kerr installed as a number 2. There he would still have a high input into the team.

Bryan Robson is definitly not the answer... El Tel wont be able to bail him out if he goofs up again. Truth is, the majority of candidates are the B list managers. Anyone half decent wont touch the job with a barge pole because of the FAI's constant bungling.

    Im hoping for a miracle...

Yeah, but Charlton was the upshot of that process and most would admit he did a pretty decent job. Also, and the FAI were not to know this, I'm guessing, Paisley was diagnosed with Alzheimer's within 2-3 years of Charlton's appointment.

He did a great job, but you'd have to wonder what we may of achieved under Paisley if he was appointed and I'd presume he knew nothing of the Alzheimer's at the time, I guess things worked out alright in the end but if we end up with someone like Robson this time around that wont be the case.

Unless Robson then develops Alzheimer's :)
