Any Zach Thornton/SL Benfica news?

    He hasn't played for Benfica's first team. He has played for Benfica's B team.

    There was an article in one of the Portuguese newspapers recently that reported Zach will not be back with Benfica next season.

    This begs the question... whose decision was it? His or the club?

    It was the club's decision. I will try to dig it up, though it was only in Portuguese.

    I read that article and it says Zach Thornton hasn't been very impressive in games for the B team. The newspaper assumes both Thornton and Bossio (Benfica's 2nd goalie) will be released. I think Bossio will be release because he has a very high salary, I wouldn't be suprised if they pick up Thornton's option for next season because Benfica wants an experienced goalie backing up Moreira, but Thornton will have to impress them at practice and in B games for Benfica to keep him.
