I'd like anyone's take on Waterford United's chances of winning the LOI this season. They seem to be doing pretty good right now in 4th spot in the standings (even on points with SPA, but behind on GD). A longtime coach here where I live in New York is now the manager there. His name, of course, is Jimmy McGeough. It was nice to see him doing well there as he went back to where he was an outstanding player in his day. Any info on the club and its progress would be appreciated. Thanks.

Waterford are going really well, don't think they'll be strong enough to win it as it is their first season back in the premier division. Their 1-1 draw at Shelbourne last Thursday was a great result, some reports claim they could have even won.

The following web sites have info on the league of Ireland and Irish football in general.

I was at the match and despite being a biased Shels fan Waterford deserved a win let alone a draw, which was a fantastic result for them anyway. Nobody expected them to do this well, but you can't argue with their league standing. While I doubt they can win the league since they were playing in division 1 last year, they've been shocking everyone so far, so they might just be there or there abouts.

This is good to hear, especially since I know the manager personally. He was a professional and youth coach in New York for many years. He has been quite successful too.

They had a couple of CT Wolves last fall - Seth Lilburn and Roger Kennedy.

I know that Seth scored a goal for them in the league, but then both returned to the US.

Waterford have been quite good this season and deserve their place in the league. I saw Shelbourne v. WU earlier this season and Shelbourne ran away with it. You wouldn't have thought back then they would be in the position they are in now. Before the season began they would've been happy to escape relegation. Now they have a chance for a place in Europe, maybe even a chance for the league.

I think Scott Garlick of the Colorado Rapids played at Waterford back in the day.

Ah, yes I just looked it up:

"Played 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons with Waterford United of Ireland's First Division ... Player of the Year at Waterford"

I am currently researching the Eircom Premier League for a computer game that my company is making (not MY company, but the one I work for). If anyone can help me with information regarding Waterford United, I would really appreciate it. i need to know who takes what, the tactics they are using this season, and what their most popular formations are.

I need help (ambiguous, I know).

I went to 2 games during the 3 weeks I spent in Waterford (UCD and Cork City) and I fell in love. I recommend going with a Bausch and Lomb employee. You get to go in the directors box and have free food and you get discounts on merchandise. Other than that the team was great and during the big games the atmosphere really picked up. The supporters section in the back could always be heard.
