He hurt his knee on Oct 28. Surgery after the swelling went down. Any news on his recovery? I heard a rumor that there have been some problems. Anybody heard anything solid...?
His website has some info, but I couldn't find a date of when it was written. here is a link. http://www.claudio-reyna.com/reyna/index.asp
i could be way off but i thought i remember reading somewhere that he had been slowed by a staph infection or some other sort of complication like that. please by no means quote me on that because quite honestly i might be thinking of chris armas
Thanks, Mikesterw. It's hard to know without dates on the articles, but it appears that Claudio is progressing well.
He's entering the physical rehab portion of things, per a halftime interview Sunderland had with him a few weeks ago. Said things were going well, but that it is unlikely he will return for any of this season.
no staph infection. that was simply bs specualtion to a comment that tommy smyth made about some complications claudio had to his surgery.
It can generally be said that even once a player is physically ready to go full speed, he won't be able to reach that level. A serious knee injury takes more time to recover than just rehab time. There is regaining fitness and mental confidence. Plus, there is also the difficulty of getting back into that groove playing games and meshing with teammates. I'd be surprised if Reyna gets back into form before this time next year. But I hope he does get back.
It would probably be too soon against top class opposition but I wonder if the Confederation Cup is in his plans. It would be good window dressing since he might have an escape clause and will need a team with Sunderland all but likely to go down.
I do no think Claudio will in the Confederations Cup....I do no think he wants to rush back into the International game....also with all this EUFA crap about not releasing their players....I highy doubt it... Here's the article from ESPN about the Confederation's Cup problems... -PB20
