    Hello all.

I'm a newbie to these fan boards but a longtime fan of the Cl...er, Earthquakes.

I will be travelling to the Final with a friend and we are wondering if there is a fan gathering taking place anywhere near the stadium before the game. If anyone is organizing a pre-game rally or better yet, meal, please let me know! Otherwise, perhaps we can set something up.

Thanks in advance and GO 'QUAKES!

You know, it might be kinda cool to meet up before going into the stadium. And then march in chanting.

Do they have a not loitering policy? Like will they come tell us to move if we're in one place too long?

All I know is that it is not good to jump out of your car spitting on a picture of Ruiz. That's a great way to get swarmed by security. They gave us a pic of Ruiz when we drove in the parking lot, and Amy and I were so grossed out we jumped out of my car spitting on it. We we swarmed by TWO carts and a bike!

Hehe! I'm all for meeting up. Let's pick a place so we can get everyone in the know. How 'bout over by the Will Call window? Many of us will need to be there to get our tickets anyway.

So by the Will Call window anyone? I'm told there's a fountain there or something?

Yes, let's meet for a pre-game rally! What time works best for everyone? Shall we meet at 10:30 and go until 11:30 near the Will Call window? This way we can chant/sing/rave for a while before going into the stadium. I will look into finding any landmarks where we can meet. I'll post back later today! This is gonna be great.

    GO QUAKES!

At the playoff game down there I was loitering by the fountain near the ticket windows at the southwest corner of the stadium, and didn't get busted for it. It's a pretty good place to meet but there will be lots of people there so be sure to wear some identifying clothes, like Quake blue.

I think that might be a long time to be standing around. That just might get us busted if there's like 100 of us standing around yelling and whatever for an hour. But I guess we can come and go and whatnot. I think I might want to head into the stadium a bit early so I can do another walkaround. Last time we were down there we arrived WAY too close to game time and didn't get to see anything. Though I've seen just about all there is to see since I've been there three times! :)

Why don't we make that the meet up spot though? Spread the word! And whoever shows up and whatever we can get away with we will do!

    Thanks for the info, Bill.

Ok, everyone, let's all meet at the fountain at the SOUTHWEST corner of the stadium at 10:30 and go until at least 11:30. Let's all wear Quake blue and bring our signs. I know me and a friend will definitely be there and we hope to be joined by as many of our fellow fans as possible.

Let's show everyone that the Quakes have the best fans in MLS.

    GO QUAKES!

SJ, I agree that getting to the stadium two hours early is a long time. However, the way I see it, people will show up late, no matter what time we say! What does everyone think?

That's not what I meant. I meant that standing around in front of the stadium for an hour making a ton of noise might not be best thing. They might just ask us to go in or leave or something. I can only imagine that if they crack down on people loitering in the parking lot, that they won't appreciate that.

However, we'll do what we can and see what happens.

i'll bring my group (6-8) over. going in at the same time would be cool, especially if the team's on the field doing warm-ups and sees/hears everyone come in together, in one voice...

    cheers,
    battch

    GO QUAKES!!!

battchy, the thought of that gave me chills and made me tear up. When we get there we'll have to decide what chant to do. Can someone make up one that ends in a very emphatic "WE BELIEVE!"

    Something like,

    (Call and response)
    Everywhere we go
    People wanna know
    Who we are
    So we tell them
    We are the Earthquakes
    Mighty, mighty Earthquakes

    (All together) WE BELIEVE!

    Repeat until we sit.

Would Oh when the Quakes go marching in as we march in be too cheesy?

Dang I'm really tearing up at the thought of this.

That might be easier to throw a "WE BELIEVE!!" in between verses on rhythm. And I think that's a more appropriate song for entering the park. Then, once we're in, we can establish "who we are".

    Ooh!

Sounds like this pre-game rally is picking up steam!

I like the idea of having a good, loud chant for our entry into the stadium. The thought of having the Quakes hear our arrival is giving me goose-pimples.

    Go Quakes!

    Oooo... good idea!

So a round of Oh when the Quakes....
    Then shout emphatically, "WE BELIEVE!"
Repeat until we get to our seats

Once we get to our seats a round of who we are!

    Tears, tears!!!

I can't take this! Too much work to do! I have to stop!

One more thing, remember that we WILL get split up at the security gate. They take forever. But we can chant while in line and getting in. Then no one take off until the group of us is in and just keep chanting. Non-stop!

Okay. Now gotta get my work done.

    Excellent idea!

Once we get through the gates, we can form up again. If it's at all possible (time and space-wise), we can take a lap around the stadium concourse. Who knows? Maybe we can pick up a few more fans and really make ourselves heard!

Oh, and if we nail down a good chant, why not print up the words and distribute them to anyone interested?

    Go Quakes!
