haven't seen a thread on this, so sorry if there is one.

are the galaxy doing anything to strengthen the team for next year?

i know they got hong (sp), but i don't know if that will be an improvement on the field as opposed to in the stands!

can we strengthen the midfield - meaning replace an aging cien?

can we get bigger and stronger up front - meaning someone to neutralize the beating that ruiz will certainly get in his sophomore season?

Still no news on what may happen with Earnie Stewart - not that he'd make the midfield much younger! I still think he's got some serious juice left in 'em, though. That's a possibility.

There will also be a number of trades and I'm sure the Galaxy will get in on it. They want nothing more than to crown the new stadium with another MLS title.

    think this...

You know th Galaxy wanted freddy garcia over a year ago when they were scouting the Fish.

unfortunately they only had 1 senior international spot to fill and they filled it with him.... they were hoping no other MLS team scouted Freddy Garcia, but 3 teams did.

Columbus got him of course. Now with Cien retiring next season can the G's make a move for him... or at least retain his rights to play in MLS.

Knowing his buddy is here in MLS and on the same team... will that keep EL pescadito here and not fleeing to Mexico.

I think Philly anshultz and the league can see that deal thru.

it would only cost us, Pete Vaegnas & Gavin Glinton w/ either a first round pick in 2004 or cash to seal the deal.

    Would you make that move?

I would love to see Garcia as the heir apparent to Cienfuegos, but that price is too high.

My guess: we have Pescadito for another year and then the league sells him off at a very nice profit. Whether he has a buddy on the squad or not is not going to keep him here.

I thought he just had a 2 year contract and if that's true the league can't sell him and make a profit if his contract has run it's course.
I'm not sure on the details but they would have to sell him this year if I'm not mistaken to make a profit.

I haven't gone back and researched the press releases, but my recollection is that Pescadito signed a four year deal. Obviously if its only a two year deal, you are right. The league wouldn't have anything to sell once Fish is out of contract.

I HOPE it's a four year deal - he's only the best striker in MLS! I want to see him in a Galaxy uniform for many years to come!

I read it was 2 but I would say it may have been in error and wouldn't be the first error in an article.
    I'll check it out..Back latter..
    EDIT:
Well none of the articles at MLS or the G's site have the years but I did find another article that had the years and this time it said 4 years..
"Galaxy striker Carlos Ruiz, the MLS .Edit.. the regular season and eight in the playoffs in his first season, has four more years left on his contract with MLS."

It's from a newspaper also.. Would be nice to see it on MLS or the G's site so we can be more sure but 4 sounds good to me!

I've seen it a couple of times that unless a special short term contract is signed, all MLS deals are for four years minimum- two years foll0wed by two option years (i.e. renegotiation time!)

    Linda
Third Round FA Cup - Fulham 3 Birmingham City 1. Take that, Kirovski!

I'm from Rev Land. We are getting strong indicastions that we will be signing JMM again. In order to do this we would probibly need to offload Serna for Cap reasons. Wondering if he could be heading to LA. He would make a strong partner for Ruiz. I don't know about your SI status or Cap but I believe that the Revs would be looking for a leftsided player in return.

    Any ideas?

    if we dont get

Well its looks like were not getting any allocations of foreign signings... and no trades look like there in the works.

I suppose we might be first in line with San Jose to get next years top Foreign signing.

You guys got McKinley Tennyson from us (the Portland TImbers) at the end of the season last year. This kid is VERY GOOD! Mark my words here - he is big, strong and fast. Hell he scored 18 goals for us in like 20 games. His one problem is that he can be a bit of a head case if he does not get going early. He tends to pout a little bit also. To his credit this was behaviour we saw earlier in the season that he improved on as the season progressed.

Just in case you are wondering about the quality of play at the Timbers - remember we beat you 2-1 here at our place last season to open our campaign.:)

The medical term for this is Albright's Syndrome. It is curable but only in some cases.
