Will all, if any, fans of Oranje, or Dutch Club teams who know of, or gather, at a NY,NJ,CT Metro area sports bar hang out to see games, talk soccer, or still curse in dutch, please post the location and when they meet. I am a former youth player at legendary Heiloo and Den Bosch, and would be happy to buy a round for anyone who's ever heard of these storied teams. Ted Kamp Croton on Hudson NY
If there is a bar that shows Ajax matches regularly in North Jersey I'd be interested in hanging out. I live in the south and am about 75 min. from Holland tunnel but to cross over to Manhattan I'd have to add another 45 min (!). That's why I'm asking if No.Jersey has such a hangout place.... I've obviously heard of FC Den Bosch but not Heiloo...
There really isn't anywhere that consistently shows Dutch matches. I saw the infamous Ireland - Holland qualifier at a place called The Grasshopper in Carlstadt real close to Giants Stadium. It's an Irish place though so it was just myself and my brother-in-law starring in stunned silence for the Oranje. I also went into Manhattan for Euro 2000 to see the match versus Italy and it was me and just one other Dutch fan (I really know how to pick'em, eh?). If there is a match coming up (there are some Euro qualifers, no?) we can check some websites for tv schedules (setanta, usually) and then call some places and try to set something up. I'm all for it. I'd love to meet some people. I know I've been in contact with Ted before so it'd be nice to actually go through with some plans.
Euro 2004 Group 3 fixtures 2003 Mar 29: Holland v Czech Republic Apr 2: Moldova v Holland June 7: Belarus v Holland Sept 6: Holland v Austria Sept 10: Czech Republic v Holland Oct 11: Holland v Moldova those are the qualifiers. I'd be suprised if any of these games are on pay-per-view or anything else. Maybe that first Czech match....
Yea, let's start looking up tv schedules... I wouldn't mind mingling even if a bar shows other Eredivisie matches besides Ajax.
Wouldn't you have to get Dutch TV via satellite or something now that FSW doesn't carry the Eredivisie?
