toldya , he would be a good signing for any premiership team and he is currently in his best years.

Would be cool to see him play with Valencia at Wigan.

The problem has been Al-Saad, Tenorio's their great striker, and they don't want to let him go so easily.

I'm sure he'll impress in the Premiership...let's hope he makes the move.

Skysports is pretty reliable so I think that the interest in him is there. Just have to see if the deal comes through between the teams looking at him at Al Saad. Besides, they might accept selling him for a small junk of change or get nothing for him if he walks out in December...

A host of Premiership clubs are tracking Ecuadorian Carlos Tenorio.

The 28-year-old is currently based in Qatar where he plies his trade with Al-Sadd.

He has been in the Middle East since 2003, but he is now longing for a move to Europe.

Tenorio was hugely impressive during the World Cup finals for Ecuador where he bagged two goals.

He is under contract for a further three years with Al-Sadd, but the club are aware he wants to try his luck in Europe and they are ready to let him leave without demanding a huge fee.

Al-Sadd play the final game of their Asian Champions League group stage on Wednesday when they face Iraq's Al Najaf and a number of scouts will be present.

Amongst the English contingent expected in Kuwait are representatives of Bolton, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Sunderland, West Ham and Wigan.

I think they would have the support of a whole country...

I was going to say imagine their shirt sales in Ecuador, but we would of course manage to make poor fakes and sell them on the street for a tenth of the price so there won't be much gain there...

Well, I don't know how it would affect them all the way in England...It would have definetly had a bigger impact if the team were Spanish simply because of all the Ec's in Spain. It definelty won't hurt them, but we won't be buying any season tickets from here and like I said, when it comes to jerseys and merchandise, we will probably be making our own...

Valencia news-

Latics aim to wrap up a permanent deal for Antonio Valencia after his season on loan at the JJB Stadium.
The Ecuador international impressed sufficiently for Wigan boss Chris Hutchings to want to extend his stay.
He started 17 Premiership games and made a further five appearances as a substitute, scoring one goal, with only injury and suspension
preventing him getting more time on the pitch.
Valencia joined last August from Spanish club Villarreal after the right-winger caught the eye of former manager Paul Jewell playing for Ecuador at the World Cup.

The one-year loan included an agreement for Latics to buy this summer, with a price pre-agreed between the clubs.
Towards the end of last season, Valencia told the Evening Post he had enjoyed his stay and hoped to sign a long-term contract.
And with Premiership football assured on the final day of the campaign at Sheffield United, there is no reason to think the 21-year-old will change that view.
Valencia is currently recovering from an ankle injury collected against the Blades. He pulled out of Ecuador's friendly against the Republic of Ireland in the USA last week.

Valencia it seems has turned down a two year contract at Wigan. HOWEVER, he has signed for a further year on loan.

There is nothing official about this yet but it comes from a reliable source.

Why?? a 2 year contract is nothing...does this mean he is a free agent? So who is he on loan from?

I am sure he pissed off a lot of Wigan officials and supporters with this move. I wonder what will happen next...

The rumours fee that we had agreed with them was £4m so to only offer him a 2 year contract after paying £4m seems strange to me.

Will just have to wait and see. The manager is back from his holiday now so things should be sorted in the next few days i think

Hutchings confirms Antonio Valencia to return to club

Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchings has confirmed that Ecuador midfielder Antonio Valencia will be returning to the club after finishing his international duty at the Copa America.

The 21 year-old, who turns 22 on August 4th, made a big impression during his season-long loan from Spanish club Villareal, and Hutchings has been quick to take up an option for a second year's loan for the winger.

"Considering he was in a new country, a long way from home and couldn't speak the language," said Hutchings, "I thought he adjusted really well in England last season, and to be fair, he did excellently in certain games and was a valuable member of the squad."

"But" added the gaffer, "I think he can move up another level this year and become an even more consistent threat."

""He's a lovely lad, a really willing worker and he adds something different to the squad.

"Call it South American flair, or a touch of the unexpected, but he combines a really good work ethic with good pace and a bit of quality in areas that can hurt teams.

"He played mostly at right midfield last season, but he can also play on the left and in the middle, where he has played for his country. He's one of those players who can produce a bit of magic and that's what I want him to do for us and will be encouraging him to do."

Valencia will line up against Brazil tonight (Wednesday) in Ecuador's final game of the Copa America, and Hutchings confirmed he will be given some time off before rejoining the rest of the squad for pre-season training.

Yeah he does have a little temper,it can be good but at the same time it could hurt him.The good thing is that he's still young and can be tought how to control this.

LAV has been super so far in pre-season. The manager has tried playing him in the middle of the midfield, rather than on the wing, for a few games and he seems so much more effective playing there.

There was a little interview in one of the newspapers here today and LAV sounds very positive about the season ahead.

LAV started the season well but he's injured again He's had a small operation on his knee. Hopefully he should be back in 2 or 3 weeks

According to Wigan's website, Valencia might come back from his injury to play against Man U tomorrow. This is great news...we need this kid for the WCQ...
