Just missed on #2. Robinson would have been indirectly involved. What does Ray Hudson say when he's describing a team breaking downfield the way City is? Oh yeah "like marbles on a glass coffee table".
only half watching due to gio, but antonee has looked like he really wants to show well today. always an up hill battle against city but he is working super hard even by his standards
and on cue he plays a decent pass that gets badly received and turned over and the rushes back to break up the city attack
He's English, HG and a young attacking LB. Fulham will have offers if he continues to play like he has since he's taken over the job.
I half-watched the 2nd half while I worked out. Fulham way too slow to pass. Everyone trying to jam it up the middle. AR saw a lot of the ball. One of the smarter players on Fulham, but still made a few poor passes. His footspeed with the ball is very nice. He's no Dest, but can find and dribble into space, even with a player chasing him. Not able to dominate, but looks really comfortable and confident. Fulham is really poor in the midfield. Everyone takes too long to pass, passes at the wrong time and they never got the ball in the box. Should drop into the drop zone after the bottom 3 play.
They played like their opposition was a much better team, with better athletes, skill, and tactics ... which was true. Antonee has the athleticism to match up with City, though, and does seem to havae a compelling football IQ; it's the more complex skill stuff where the gap in level shows. And his decision-making today was only pretty good - small handful of mistakes I can remember, though I didn't watch every minute due to Gio.
AR made mistakes for sure - just seemed like less than most other Fulham players going forward. Lots of dribbling into dead ends in the middle of the field. But City was just so clearly better man for man the result flattered Fulham. That said, they did put together a few sequences - a decent number down the left - that suggest they could stay up if they figure out a way to score - or at least get the ball in box. Of course, being up 2-0 City didn't leave a lot of space to exploit.
It's Fulham v Liverpool today @ 11:30 AM eastern. Time to get the party started. Both teams have big matches in the middle of the week, at opposite ends of the table. On Wednesday, Liverpool (#2) hosts Tottenham (#1), and Fulham (#17) hosts Brighton(#16), so ideally both teams would like to rest their players today. Robinson is likely to start today, but if the team is focused on Brighton, Bryan could start today. Similarly, Ream could start today in a 3-CB setup, in a defensive 5-4-1. We'll know shortly ...
So watch Fulham's "Park the bus" with Antonee or Genoa's "Park the Bus" with McKennie (Juv) ? or both ?
Fulham pretty much played Liverpool off the pitch for the first 35 minutes. Liverpool has been dominating the the last seven or so. Robinson and Lookman have kind of been nerfing a Salah focused on conserving energy and a rusty Alexander Arnold.
Yeah I want everyone who doubted Fulham to be a good place for Robinson to step up and order their plate of crow. Parker has the lads playing for him every match.
Fantastic half from Fulham. Could've been 2-0 pretty easy. I thought the penalty should have been awarded.
