Well, that's quite the thing to read just before going to bed.

Good article. Everyone should read it.

One of the things I got into via Denver Riggleman and then the likes of Will Sommer is how normies increasingly believe in mainstream versions of Qanon - yet much of this stuff is not surfaced in US discourse because everything is so fractured.

If you ask most here they of course say they don't listen to Tucker or Candance or Von or B-listers listers like Bongino - nor do they know anyone who does. So they assume it's not particularly significant. But these people have much bigger weekly audience than cable news. And in aggregate, it is they who define the US cultural landscape now. Many millions of Americans regularly listen to this group.

Orbanist Rod Dreher recently warned Vance that 30-40% of the DC zoomercon class are Groypers of some form i.e. the political class are highly influenced by Carlson and co and are the demographic future of the MAGA party

This is why Vance himself embraces it

Here is an example of the casual trump-anon

Here Flynn advances a JFK conspiracy and of course finds ways to absolve Trump of blame because the cabal is really in control

I’ve read the Bible. There are IIRC 4 (very tedious) books in the Old Testament, the theme of which is how God either punished or rewarded Israel depending on whether the people and/or king were worshipping Baal or not. Yahweh was, of course, anti-Baal.

4 books! The 2 Kings and Chronicles. (This is me going by memory.)

Just to let yall know just how non-scriptural Owens’ thesis is.

PSA finally did a feature about Owens. She is a highly skilled propagadist.

One reason I miss Skyes original Bulwark show is he invested a lot of time charting all these people. Candace was originally astro-turded by Daily Wire - itself created using dark donor money via facebook.

i think Baddiel is correct here.

    1. It's structural - antisemitic conspiracies drive the algo. It's why Candace Owens pivoted to pure jew hating post Oct 7.

    2. The underlying toxic manosphere conspiracy is just reheated globalist cabal stuff. Shadowy woke liberals, womenz, and gheyz trying to import brown people to make the blood line weak. A strange fixation on pedos. This is the route Musk took from being mad at democrats to becoming a neo nazi. At the end of the day, if you want a vast following, the far right are easier to get. if there were not structural incentives, you'd see way less of this IMO.

Exactly the same. Wingnuts hate Jews based on who they are and by buying into wildly racist conspiracy theories going back centuries. The "far left" hates this corrupt and murderous Bibi regime as do many middle-of-the road Normals. But hey, horseshoe theory is a good internet talking point.

I'm not reading the tweet but no one has to bring fascism to America and America does fine on its own bloodlust.

New England also has 2 Israelis. Dor Turgemon, who scored yesterday, has 4 goals in 6 games, and Ilay Feingold is a defender/wing. The Revs have played 2 away games this year, but I haven't heard of anything like that going on. Yet.

This is not surprising. Indeed, I think it's part of the basic structure of antisemitism and shows why it's so different from other kinds of hatred and bigotry. At its base, antisemitism functions as a kind of original and master conspiracy theory in which all other conspiracy theories inevitably land and root.

Yair Rosenberg has written a lot about this:

Why So Many People Still Don’t Understand Anti-Semitism
    http://archive.today/jNblT

Why Fighting Conspiracy Theories Is Essential to Fighting Anti-Semitism
    http://archive.today/mo6FF

I just read the second of those articles and while I don't disagree with the general argument, I think he does need to think more critically about it. For example, he writes:

Throughout Christian history the treatment of gays and Jews have been parallel. When homophobia rises or falls, so does anti-Semitism, and vice versa. This definitely aligns with what he says in the first part of the first quote above.

Why I say I think he needs to be more critical in his analysis is because gays have also existed everywhere, have existed even longer than Judaism and, of course, were not "well-received" in many places including ancient Israel. Yet, while conspiracy theories definitely exist for gays, those for Jews are on a "higher" level. As such, I think he needs to go deeper.

One obvious difference is that gays generally had to live in hiding, whereas Jews didn't necessarily have to, so Jews became a more obvious subgroup to target. Another thing I think that is important is that in the Middle Ages in various places in Europe Jews were prohibited from owning land. As such, they congregated in what some call the Jewish ghettos and, instead of working the land like the other locals, many basically had no choice but to go into business and banking. Of course, those in business and banking often ended up financially better off than those non-Jews who worked the fields, which would eventually lead to resentment and provide ready-made tropes that bigots could exploit.

Plenty of far left types in the last 50 or so years have found common cause with the far right.

This is why the conspiracies have to be considered together with the fascist ideology IMO - and it's why the Bari Weiss focus is in itself is fascist propaganda. Not saying that there is no anti-semitism amongst students on campus. But we have to see the broader fascist movement to control education, speech etc etc for what it is. When Musk promotes the idea that liberal jews are trying to import brown people - it's brown people who go to the camps to be tortured. There is no such project on the left.

And as you say, the same projects exist to force gay people out of public life - driven in part by bizarre conspiracies about pedos, gender etc

That is a very weird tradition. You probably know that we throw things at parades here. At St. Patrick's day parades we throw food. It started out as throwing everything you need to make Irish stew, except the meat. But because this is crawfish season, it's expanded to everything you might put in a crawfish boil. We came home with a bunch of carrots, 7 heads of cabbage, onions, potatoes, garlic, lemons, fruit and more. An insane amount of food, most of which I donated to community fridges. We kept the moon pies, though. :D

Next week is the Irish-Italian parade (St. Joseph's day is very big here among the Italians), and more of the same. You do need to pay attention at these parades - you don't want to get conked on the head with a cabbage and, even if you are standing in the back, those lemons and potatoes are coming in hard and fast.
