http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/20030430/NOTICIA57151981.html An interesting read. Not really much new here. Although, I hadnt seen that we were interested in Jose Mari before. Except for Sorin I was glad to see the list of those leaving the club. Also no mention of Kluivert leaving.
If indeed Cocu is going, it would be nice to get him some playing time before the campaign ends to keep that transfer value stable (presuming he can't walk on a 'free'... I don't remember his situation specifically). Otherwise he's just a 32 year old midfielder with an unproven knee. His departure might also have something to do with this rumor I found, which probably started on EMD or Sport: http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=144367&cpid=23&title=Roger+linked+with+Barca+return
http://www.soccer365.com/_365_Features/page_121_50873.shtml This sheds some light on the potential financial Disaster looming and what some people are speculating along with a host of other things related to Barca/RM , La Liga etc. Umm...Hello...we are about to make a charge to play in Uefa.
Now this is the kind of 9's I want in my team! Makaay: I Will Not Be Renewing Depor Contract Deportivo La Coruna striker Roy Makaay may have sparked a transfer scramble by stating that he will not be signing a new deal with the Galicians. "I will not be renewing my contract at Deportivo and I have informed the club of my decision," he said. "I have spent four years at Deportivo and I am happy here, but in June 2005 I will say goodbye." Deportivo, instead of letting the remaining two years of Makaay's deal run down, may want to off load the striker in the next year or so in order that he still commands a fee. The Dutchman has been in red-hot form for the club this season.
If we could move Kluivert and sign Makaay on a Bosman, that would be a great move for the club. Unfortunately, it makes too much sense for it too happen. Anyways, here's another article from Sport on who's out after the end of the year. http://www.sport.es/Barsa/article.asp?id=64309 Enke and Kluivert arent on the list but I think we all agree the former is gone. Also, I was surprised to see Sorin and Gerard on there. I have read several times that Sorin will not be back next season. Could anyone fill me in on why Barca dont want to purchase his rights from Cruzeiro. He seems like he has been a valuable addition to the squad and helped stabilize the back line. Additionally, he has an EU passport.
let alone Juanpi goes forward helping the build up! I dont know the reason but I smell something fishy, maybe the cash is a serious issue to Perez Farguell? more than what we expect?
Yeah, i have read a couple of times allusions to Barca's :impending financial crisis" next season when they miss out on Europe. Personally, I still feel that we will qualify for the Uefa cup and I am all for getting rid of some of the deadwood in the squad (Dani, Alfonso, Christanval, etc.); however, I am quite concerned that I see more articles detailing which players are leaving the club than the players coming into the club.
That my friend its because we need the money we will make with that transfers to sign the replacements!
That and also we just dont need to rise the price tag of our targets with all the rumors mentioning our interest in them!
