As far as I understand the rules for the Ramadan you're allowed to eat and drink if it's necesary or your health would be in danger if you didn't. You do have to include it in yours prayers and I think you're obliged to praise Allah in prayer a couple of more times than usual too. KJ
It isn't just in the south...In the town where I went to university, some idiots attempted to burn down the only mosque on the Sunday after the London bombing. This to go along with a number of other racial incidents over the years...I guess that's just Indiana for you...

guys, i know about the south cause i lived in the south. i was in SC for 6-7 years. speaking of skinheads, once i was sitting in my uni student center with my friends and i had a shave head and this black guy walks up to me with his friends. he asked me whether i was a skinhead...i was gobsmacked. ok, im not a white fella but i had a shaved head cause i guess i felt like it. i couldnt believe that guy's ignorance.
it didnt bother me though. it was pre 2001 though. i heard various things from my friends/family who have been to the states post 2001. i personally not interested to go there any time soon but i still keep in touch with my pals from uni days!
You will indeed, I had fun coming in to the States at Easter as I had a load of travel stamps in my passport from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana etc. The customs guy took ages to go through mine and my girlfriends passports. We then had questions of why we went there, I don't think "vacation" was believed!!!
