Anyone remember the faces of Suarez and Bonseu when Chung scored the winning goal in game 3 vs. Colorado? At the end of the telecast for the MLS Cup final, they showed Kante, laying face down on the ground - after leaving Rusty Pearce all alone on a two-on-one. I can't help but draw a correlation between the two. What would've happened if T-bone 'stepped up' to a charging Chung to deny the chance? What would've happened if Kante had kept his line with Rusty and stayed with the on-rush? I guess all it really takes is one small mistake - or one brilliant play - to make someone's year... or break someone's year. I guess we all want the 'brilliant play', but we all know, that's not guaranteed. Then again, I guess nothing really ever is.
As much as I wanted the Revs to win, they really shouldn't have been there, you could tell by the way they played. Ughh if only we would have taken advantage of all those first place opportunities, maybe it would have been L.A. vs Dallas MLS Cup final, I could just see the add.... the two clubs that best represent MLS, the only two clubs to make it to every playoff series, the two clubs that have the most passion square off at Gillette Stadium on October 20th ahh what could have been..... I think the thing that ticks me off the most is that we didn't make it to the final in '97 when we had already beaten the Gals...
The best part? Since the game went into double overtime ABC had to cut away to the ALL IMPORTANT golf game as soon as the winning goal went in. I didn't have to watch that cockroach Cobi Jones lift the Cup on national TV. Neither did millions of other viewers.
