I came across an interview on Yahoo with celeb footy fan, Anthony LaPaglia. A fun little read with his views on soccer. My favorite line is: "TSN: You haven't become one of those celebrity Lakers fans? LaPAGLIA: No, not at all. I'm more likely to go see the Galaxy play." http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news;_y...g=qawithactorandsportsfana&prov=tsn&type=lgns
Score one Italian-Dutch Australian for our side! Though if he'd cried when Pando scored, and mentioned that, that would have been the absolute best.
For those who don't know, LaPaglia was at one time the goalkeeper for the U-17 Australian Nats and has been known to play in goal for local club team FC Hollywood on occasion... Anthony LaPaglia and Drew Carey. How's that for celeb fans? The Lakers ain't got nuthin' on us.
Also, on Jonesey's show on Indie 103.1 (Steve, not Cobi), LaPaglia has talked a little bit about MLS and said that he's all about buying jerseys of teams all over the world . . . said he has several hundred shirts, and that it was one of his favorite things about making star money.
We've seen him a couple times at games. Comes with friends, but no security that we saw. One time he was in the field seats.
Okay, at first it seemed like he was saying that he cared so little about the Lakers that he'd rather watch us play...also saying we were low down on his list. Glad to hear that he's bigged up MLS on Jonsey's show. We need to get Jonsey into the Riot Squad and have him talk about the Galaxy, instead of QPR.
Send him a Riot Squad scarf or shirt and invite him out. He says he doesn't drink anymore . . . but ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT -- MAYBE JUST ONE . . .
As they used to say about the late Harry Caray: Harry doesn't drink anymore. Of course, Harry doesn't drink any less.....
