Media bias is worth a point or two every election…why do Democrats continue to play on an uneven playing field?

 

I’m absolutely positive that in Tapper’s own mind, the fact he’s getting criticized by both sides means he’s doing a good job. No, it just means he’s did 2 awful things. First, as GOPs are pointing out, he hid relevant info about Biden when Biden was still running, and second, as bad as Biden was at that debate it’s obvious Trump’s mental state is much worse…not even accounting for the fact that even when Trump is lucid he suffers from, well, all the deficiencies that make Trump Trump (incurious, racist, ignorant, etc.)

 

If Tapper said, for example, that Russiagate was worse than Watergate, he’d be attacked by the vast majority of the Republican Party. But as a clever striver, he’d never do that because he knows better.

A problem with our politics is that mainstream journos are afraid to tell the truth about Republicans, and afraid not to lie about Democrats.

If you don’t want to…one of the staples of modern political reporting is that if a rich powerful conservative says something, it’s treated as true. Journos don’t evaluate their claims. So all but the most obsessive news readers will believe the lie, which gives a huge, huge advantage to sociopaths.

This is a tweet from Terry Moran. He has since deleted it, and ABC has suspended him.



Here’s my question: what is the “right” way to do this? Obviously Moran is out at ABC. Even though what he wrote is true, a news organization isn’t going to keep someone who writes this.

So what should he have done? What should his next step be; take on the role of sounding the klaxon?

I’ll say this…Moran’s great grandchildren are gonna be 1000 times more proud of him than Tapper’s will of his.

 

The NYT did a story on Mamdani’s college application. You can find the deets if you poke around. Anyway, the story came about because a wingnut had some info from computer hacking that he passed on to the Times.

 

It gets worse. TFNYT pushed to publish the story because they didn’t want to get scooped by Christopher Goddamn Rufo.

The NYT plays a major role in setting the national agenda, so I think it’s a big, big problem that Jeffries and Schumer are both New Yorkers. It’s going to be incredibly difficult for Dems to start treating the Times like the enemy with those two as our national leaders.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this pessimistic about the Democratic Party, not even in the wake of 1994.

Imagine you’re me. UNC football is led by Belichik, which is going to be funny but a failure. Hubert Davis ain’t it. DC United is arguably the worst franchise in the league this decade. The Carolina Panthers are the NFL equivalent. The Democratic Party is horrible. America is horrible. The Fed is horrible. If I cared about the Hornets, they’re horrible too.

And the Hurricanes, the only competent thing in my life, don’t play for another couple months.

Th FCC is going to appoint an ombudsman to Skydance/Paramount to ensure fair coverage of Trump.

The Democratic position should be fine, but watch out because we’re gonna do the same thing when we get the chance.

 

I wouldn’t be so sure since they’ve never tried that. In fact, I don’t think k even GOPers have tried that tactic. Maybe McConnell on the filibuster for judges.
