Once you start believing one conspiracy theory, the others just fall into place.

I thought the ref was garbage, particularly in his "Whoops, Too Slow" move, but it beggars belief that anyone important would want Panama to go through at the expense of the United States.

    Economically,no.
But the US has gotten the shit end of the stick so many times I've decided it's imlpilct bias thanks to the Monroe Doctrine.

So just in case you were wondering how bad things at the NYT have gotten….they published an Op-Ed today a contributor from Michigan explaining why he doesn’t vote and why others shouldn’t either

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/04/opinion/not-voting-elections.html

    The problem?

The writer absolutely does vote…and you’ll never believe which side of the political divide he’s on

    who am I kidding.

    of course you guessed it.

Yes…I understand it’s an opinion piece. But to not do even the basics in background investigating before allowing this to be published is…the NYT in 2024. ******** every single person that draws a paycheck from that piece of shit organization.

Not that I believe it, but getting a weaker team through at the expense of the US makes the road easier for other teams.

Then there’s also the fact that anybody who bet on Panama to win made a LOT of money from that match.

I also posted this in the tweet thread, but I have a larger point to make.

I have a theory…the media sees itself as a gatekeeper. The last 9 years, one side has told them to ******** all the way off with the gatekeeping. Might they be doubling down on the one side that doesn’t dismiss their bullshit? Like, they’re training all their gatekeeping fire on Democrats.

By the way, Hillary appeased their game and that didn’t work. If Biden decides to stay in the race, I wonder if his “******** off” in the long run will outlast the media frenzy, or if it will just make the media more pissed,

PS…in retrospect, Bill Clinton never allowing them to dictate propriety to him probably contributed to their hatred of him. He brazened it out on Monicagate and that drove them nuts.

CNN chief Mark Thompson announces sweeping overhaul of news network, cuts 100 jobs

I'm sure this will be fine.
This after Chris Licht laid off a bunch of staff too before getting the boot (for obvious incompetence).

Mark Thompson got the NYT going. Hopefully he can revitalize CNN without all the Dem trolling.

Why do I think "experimenting with AI" is a fancy way of saying "we want AI to write our news articles"?

    Am I too cynical?

I think you’re partially right, except more accurately it’s “we don’t want to have to pay anybody to write our news articles.”

Everybody knows about what happened this past week at Copa America (yes, some mistakes, there was a questionable goal, by inches, but not a pattern of corruption), but I wanted to point out that I remember the other incident that was mentioned in the story because I follow Boca.

There was nothing irregular about that match, but some people in Bolivia who know nothing about the game made a big deal about what was a customary gift of team jerseys and banners to the refs, and somehow the story made it to the international media and now these people picked it up as some sort of corroboration of their bullshit story.
