Wow what an amazing career…actress and model, now head of MSNBC!!! Oh, not THAT Rashida Jones? Nevermind
This happens frequently with news articles about the economy. The journo will use anecdotes rather than data. Vibes before facts helps Republicans and conservatives because their ideas about how to have a robust economy have proven to be inferior to Democrats’ and liberals’ ideas. But yeah, why list 4 companies’ earnings calls rather than look up government stats. The latter is easier anyway since it takes 1 google search and not 4. My view is that journos prefer “balance” over accuracy. https://jabberwocking.com/the-washington-post-is-very-very-wrong-about-the-economy/
AI Post-journalism: Lewis says the says the three pillars of the new strategy are: great journalism, happy customers, and making money: “If we're doing things that don't meet all three…we should stop doing that." He adds that the company will also be looking for ways to use AI in its journalism.— Max Tani (@maxwelltani) May 22, 2024

When my wife & I binge-watched the American "The Office", we butted heads a bit over Pam vs Karen. As in--I had the hots for Jenna Fischer, while she insisted Rashida Jones is far more attractive. It was our "Ginger vs Mary Ann" debate.
Pam’s personality on that show was very, very winning. The showrunners made a good choice when they made Karen a cool person too. But let’s face it…Jones was also a model and she’s in all kinds of advertisements for beauty products. Pam vs. Karen is one debate, but Jones vs. Fischer is no contest baby! An NCer!
I didn't watch the show at first (we got into it later on, binge-watched up to that point, and then kinda lost interest--not sure I've ever watched much of the last season) so I first discovered Fischer when I took our young son to see Blades of Glory, and she was peak Dawn Wells-esque "girl-next-door" hot in that movie. So I was already a partisan by the time we watched the show.
in apocryphal Office texts, Pam dropped out of the college where my wife and I teach before she went to work at Dunder* Mifflin *Because I don’t let apple geo-locate my iPad, I had to overrule autocorrect’s attempt to write “Dundee,” and when that failed, it went with “sunder.” I assume that if it knew I was in Scranton, it would get it right.
The media doesn’t understand their future: Journalists should see themselves in Evan in a second Trump term (or more). That @SallyBuzbee @nycscribe cannot muster the courage to stand up for Evan in any meaningful way - tells you legacy news orgs are not worried about “democracy” and are enabling American fascism. 2/ pic.twitter.com/e42xPNOdXB— Fix Media Now (by the Media and Democracy Project) (@FixMediaNow) May 24, 2024
Next to elected Republicans, there's nobody in public life I have more contempt for than the political media in this country. What a useless collection of smug, myopic, amoral cowards. Whatever they're teaching in journalism school ain't what we need.
see for example the sackings at media matters yesterday unfortunately these organisations don’t have the money to go up against Musk and Fox co
The only possible way to make it worse would be to post it on CNN+ app… Love that CNN has adopted the Dominos pizza tracker format for trial updates pic.twitter.com/eiiFlmJNo2— Tyler (@BalloonFlavour) May 29, 2024 If that still exists…
Maybe this belongs in the democracy health thread? It isn't media bias, but it is certainly media decay of the type that makes bias more possible/common. This got all the way to my screen apparently without anyone knowing that they are not a couple and Vanna is not Maggie's mother. Multiple people got paid to not know something quite obvious. Makes me crazy wondering what more significant things are being misreported... From "People" Magazine: Vanna White and Pat Sajak's Daughter Take Viewers Behind the “Wheel of Fortune” Game Board Ahead of Pat's Retirement "Vanna White and Pat Sajak’s daughter Maggie Sajak are giving fans a glimpse of what really goes on behind the Wheel of Fortune game board."
