I forget, did Ibraham Kante ever make the Revs roster? In any case, I remember he trialed with the Revs. And now he has followed the lead of Kyle Singer and gone north to New Hampshire to get playing time with the division 3 Phantoms.

For a little more on this, see the thread on the June 11 New England Cup game at http://www.usldiscussions.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=44.

Ibreham Kante has signed with the Revs and is on their Developmental Roster. He's been working with the Revs since preseason and is considered a "diamond in the rough". Glad he's getting playing time.

Will they be playing with the Phantoms for their Open Cup game? And if they do, are they still able to play for the Revs in the Open Cup?

Once you're cup tied to one team (Phantoms if they play) you can't play for another (Revs) regardless of why you moved to another club (callup, trade).

How do you get cup tied? Does it have to be a cup game, or any game?

Kyle Singer played in an open cup qualifier for the Phantoms (v. Reading Rage), but I don't believe Ibraham Kante did. I wouldn't think it would be an issue for Singer--I can picture the Revs giving the 2nd string keeper some time in the Open Cup but probably not 3rd string. (Of course, that could change if Adin Brown got injured or called up.) Whereas it's conceivable I. Kante could get playing time in an open cup game for the Revs.

Singer can't play for the Revs in a cup match this season then.

Right, that's obvious as he's played for the Phantoms in the open cup, but the question is, can I. Kante? He's played for the Phantoms but not (so far) in the open cup.

Next Phantoms Open Cup game is Wed., June 25, in Manchester, N.H., against a Bridgeport, Conn., amateur team that beat a USL PDL team. Coincidentally, the name of the Phantoms' home field in Manchester is Singer Family Park (after the auto dealer family which donated lots of money towards it).

The Open Cup and regular season/playoffs are separate. One is tied to a team for the Cup only if you played for that team in a Cup match. Playing a regular season match for a team (Phantoms) has noting to do with the Cup.

Just as a matter of principle I don't think any of the Rev roster players should be asked to play for the Phantoms against the Revs in their Cup Match as it would be a conflict of interest but I'm not sure it's against the rules.
