Why? That is esentially what happened. We got a pick for Moreno and instead of using it on a draftee we used it for Vaca..therefore Moreno for Vaca; him being from DC or not is really quite beside the fact. Either way no one ever said our FO was capable of making good business or personnel decisions. Thanks for Pope though he has been a revelation.....wait for it....wait for it....here comes the sign for sarcasim....
Your team and its board are so brutally horrible that your fellow Scum "supporters" have to come to your rival's area and agree that your organization are complete and utter failures. Pity that.
bla bla bla..yada yada...the metroscum suck..no matter the mismanagement...no matter the toxic waste poisoning of the players because their home field is in the middle of a giant pool of god knows what... Get over it... METROS SUCK always have, always will
Well the thread title sort of implies that you would get a response from us. Sorry didn't know our hatred of our FO was a big private secret..not like you can't read all about it with a couple clicks of the mouse. Last I checked the Merto board wasn't password protected.
You would think four MLS Cups to ZERO would get the Scum front office in gear to try to salvage a doomed (DOOMED) franchise. Nice to see they're just there to collect paychecks while D.C. United's FO want to bring championships, trophies, and soccer excellence to our nation's capital. Small difference in ideology, apparently...
I might be one of the few DCU fans who feels sympathy for the Metros supporters. They've been screwed over for years, both by their front office, and by their stadium fascists. Now, I believe they have occasionally brought some of their stadium troubles on themselves, but no group of people that tries to support a team should be treated so badly. Note for the record that I am still ecstatic when we trounce the Metros, but (and this is just for the offseason) the league would benefit greatly from having a strong attractive team in the NY area. Come April I'll be wishing for "6-2 Redux"
No, I'm with you. I want us to continue to kick the zhit out of them, of course; but it'd be sweeter if they weren't in so much trouble when we did it. And I do want the league to still be around in 20 years, so I'd like there to be a strong (as in locally popular) team in NY. At the same time, there's a lot of fatalism among their supporters here regarding their relationship with their FO, as well as a lot of brutally expressed hatred for their GM. Maybe their GM is indeed a complete jerk/idiot. But it doesn't make much sense to me for the prominent members of a supporters club to make frequent proclamations that the guy is a halfwit, and then simultaneously make frequent posts expressing frustration that the guy doesn't want to work with them.
Yup, the more vocal among them are very bitter, and that has helped to poison the well. They are fuming themselves into irrelevance in the eyes of team management. I can only hope for their sakes that the more reasonable among them can learn how to work with the front office to improve the situation.
At a certain point you give up trying to work with the FO because they lie to you and work against you. I can not really blame the ESC for throwing up their hands. We have the best front office, along with Chicago , in the league. They leave the supporters clubs alone for the most part, help us out when needed, and rarely work against us.
The problem, of course, is that you cannot accomplish everything you want without dealing w/ the FO. There is NO choice; you simply have to find a way to work with them. We are very fortunate. That relationship comes from many years of both sides reaching out in cooperation.
How many supporters clubs of DC United were effectively killed off by your FO? How many members of your supporters club were kicked out, banned, arrested, and treated like miserable sh!t in your own stadium, under the watchful eye of your own FO? The ESC has many times tried to work with thw MFO. Nearly every single time, they were told one thing, and something else was done. The problem between the ESC and the MFO goes back a long way. They killed off the hispanic LA Doce, and many people fear that the ESC is the next target.
I know you guys have tried to work w/ the FO. I have friends who have been long-time members of the ESC. I hope you're wrong about them trying to kill off the ESC, but I fear there might be some sentiment similar to the one at Tampa Bay that saw them form their own official 'family-friendly' fan club, and give them all the perks they'd been unwilling to give the suppporters. If no compromise is possible, then one or the other side must go. I'm betting on the current FO disappearing.
Just wanted to comment on this. Forming a group that specializes in getting drunk, screaming profanities, and picking fights with neighbors might be acceptable if you can also back it up by buying tickets in large numbers. Doing those things and only bringing a handful of people to the stadium just makes such a group a nuisance, and not just to the FO. Bottom line, I think La Doce participated enthusiastically in their own destruction. But I agree with your larger point.
Have you read the forum at Metro Fanatic yet? If you haven't, then the writing is on the wall. http://www.metrofanatic.com/php/boards/index.php?showtopic=3356
I typically don't have a lot of time to read soccer stuff too often. I'll take a look at that link. Thanks.
Who even cares Bro! The ESC doesn't make the team. The Front Office makes the team. So far year after year we've had a team with the worst players in the league. That DC united can win an MLS cup after sucking really bad since 99 says something. These guys are right. The Metros will always suck. Salt Lake City and LA Chivas will win the MLS cup before the Metros. Let's put this team out to pasture already. Fold this team and come up with an expansion team in NYC with no one associated with the Metros now (management or players). Time and Time again you hear that this league cannot exist without a succesful team in NYC. I don't know that that is true but I think it's better to have nothing than to have Crap year after year. Here's to New York City FC
This kind of feels like that Thanksgiving when your quirky but generally stable family invites over the really dysfunctional family from up the street and their private feuds come with them to your dinner table. That said, please keep bickering, gentlemen. I will need something to read at work tomorrow.
Folding the Metro is not the answer..... I can't beleive anyone would even suggest that. Bud a cleaning house of the MFO is definately in order. And for the last time..... MLS is NOT going to fold the Metro and place an expansion team in NYC..... no matter how much crack you smoke. NYC only gets an expansion team when the Jets build the stadium and start the Cosmos back up....... oh crap.... did I just say that?
