I was one of the people who originally thought that trading much for Jaime Moreno was a mistake--b/c it was SOOOO OBVIOUS that his body and broken down and his best years were way past him. Hah--goes to show what I know. However, we had a conditional trade with Metro for Moreno. If he started enough matches they get our first round pick in the 2005 superdraft. By midseason, that condition had been met--and while I hoped we'd win it all I figured we'd probably finish in the middle of the pack and our first round pick would be about 4th-6th territory. Instead, by finishing first, our pick is 10th. No wait, with the two expansion teams picking, it's now 12th! And to cap it off, this is supposed to be a weak draft (though to be fair, it partially depends upon who goes P-40).
HAHAHA...What you failed to realize is we already gave that shitty 12 pick to Dallas for Vaca. So basicly we traded Moreno for Vaca...so get your facts straight if you are going to poke fun.
HAHAHA ... What you fail to realize is that you gave that shitty 12 pick to Dallas for Vaca who Bradley left UNPROTECTED in the expansion draft and who NEITHER expansion team wanted. So basically you traded Moreno for Vaca: a player none of those three coaches want on their teams ... so next time you come trolling on this board try thinking things through before writing lest you give us even more to laugh at.
Yea, well at least we know Jaime has no morals, and is not somebody I would ever want on my team. The Metros gave the bum a chance, and he did nothing with it. Lets see what he does next year on a team that doesn't have Nelsen in the back.
If not wanting to perform for a club that has been the laughing stock of MLS its entire existance means he has no morals, then I for one sure am glad he doenst have any. Im sure hell do more here once again than he ever would or could on such a sorry club as the metrotards.
Dude relax. No trolling here. I was making light of the ineptness of the trade and sarcasticly noting we gave up Moreno for nothing (Vaca), and in fact didn't even get a first round pick out of it. So I thought things through well enough..don't be such a vag. Next time i will be sure to put a giant or a and maybe a so you can get my implied meaning.
You left out the part about working his ass off to get back in shape and willing to take a pay cut to get another chance to prove himself.
This is even better! That means you don't have the 12th pick in the first round to show for Moreno, you have nothing! You have Vaca for giving up a first round pick to Dallas (and this, a player who exposed in the expansion draft and everyone passed). What do you have for giving up Moreno? Nada! The Moreno for Vaca line only makes sense if Vaca was coming from DCU.
Pretty good thread this one. All of you DC guys are right! As a Metro fan I think this team should be put out of it's misery already. How many more stupid moves do we have to put up with already. DC has been through its Championship period early on in the history of MLS, then through it's "you suck" period when it rebuilt it's squad and then back to Champions because of great player moves. DC management really knows what it is doing. The Metros are still rebuilding ten seasons into its history with no chance of getting out of the "you suck" period anytime soon. Metro management and it's many coaches throughout it's history have been a bunch of idiots. This latest fiasco with the proposed stadium is another reason why this team should be put out of it's misery. It has to be disbanded totally and then relocated to another state. Maybe then it will rise up like a phoenix from the ashes, but I doubt it. Congratulations DC dudes!
Man, I hope the Metros never get disbanded or moved. I couldn't live with the thought of DCU no longer kickin' your teams a$$e$ every year and us fans getting to sing: "How many trophies have you won Metros Metros"
Viper/Onion Sack--since you guys are in NJ/NY, instead of relocating the Muttros, how would people in your parts handle a revival of the Cosmos brand, say circa the eventual(?!&) opening of a new stadium, the way Dallas has re-branded its team. Is "Cosmos" considered sacred? Of course, I'd sure miss you fellas--Cletus and Lothar and Steve Shak and Mark Lisi.
