We're going to execute a murderous scumsucker, at least it's supposed to happen tonight.

Now, about those other 500+ scumsuckers on death row....

We should build some electric bleachers and do them all on the 4th of July, to go along with all of the other barbeques

Sorry all of you limousine liberals who cry over scum like this guy. We should have a signup sheet at all of these execution protests for these bleeding hearts to volunteer for housing paroled murderers, and we can pass out maps to their homes to all life-without-parole inmates in case they escape.

You are a sad, sad bitter man...and I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with you on a daily basis.

Please stay in Concord where your kind is more comfortable.

I have a tough time getting excited about the death penalty either way - I know I should, as a good liberal and all, be solidly against it. But I just can't get my dander up about it.

HOWEVER, people who take unmitigated glee from the act of snuffing a human life, no matter how reprehensible a life it was, are entirely subhuman.

If you're wondering, I'm talking about both Smiley and President Bush. Scum.

My favorite fictional character - created by John LeCarre'

Funny how I'm castigated by a guy whose moniker is based on poor Alec, the murderer in "A Clockwork Orange"

He's probably on his way to San Quentin tonite to wring his hands

You're being castigated because you're acting as if executing human beings should be celebrated along side fourth of July celebrations, as if this is something we should look forward to. You are a sick, sad individual with absolutely no respect for human life. I hope noone in your family ever has a run in with the law and has to face someone like you as a prosecutor.

    What?

I'm shocked, SHOCKED to find out that the Politburo, errrrr, the Ninth Circuit made a doctrinaire liberal decision & issued a stay.

What's next? Will the sun rise in the East? Will the Galaxy blow a lead?

    Aaaaaargh!

Not that I'm too surprised.....executions in California happen once every ten years or so

This particular gem of humanity brutally killed two adults and two children in 1983. I'm sure that 655321-Alec will agree to let him stay at his place for a furlough.

There is absolutely every reason to re-examine evidence. The worst thing we could do is execute someone if there's any doubt whatsoever that the person is guilty.

George Will is a baseball fan, but otherwise; he is a pretty cool guy.

And he reminds us that the death penalty is a government program and what government program works in a fair, efficient, logical or effective manner?

Maybe this case specifically and the death penalty in general have some problems?

But it's pretty damn coincidental to see the Ninth Circuit, which has more Communists than your average Chinese or Russian appeals court, spare a guy whose case has been taken up by a bunch of liberal movie stars.

The Ninth Circuit was pretty quiet when Robert Alton Harris got sent to The Big Burger King In The Sky. And another guy was executed a few months ago without much fanfare.

So in other words, I can off someone & get away with it if I get enough movie stars to stick up for me? Cool.

Why does it matter who brought it up?? The important thing is that people listened and hopefully we'll come to a full conclusion and go from there.

I don't understand all this bitterness about movie stars taking up public causes...why does being in Hollywood make your political opinions any LESS valid?? They have the platform, they can use it. I'd rather hear that then read about what party they went to or what dress they're wearing.

spending the rest of one's life in jail rather than getting fried is hardly "getting away with it"

This might be the most schizophrenic post ever in the history of BigSoccer. You start out by stating the exact, logical reason people oppose the death penalty, and then turn around and ignore it in favor of some paranoid conspiracy theory.

Maybe the reason the 9th was quiet when Harris was executed was - gasp! - that there wasn't a reasonable doubt about his guilt? Imagine!

Can you prove he did it??

Do you have absolute faith in our court system??

Do you believe we've never convcited an innocent person??

    No??

Then let's make sure he did it before we commit a killing simply in vengeance.

He's been on death row for 19 years. I was under the impression you have to be found guilty to be sentenced to death.

Yea, you're right. The US has never convicted an innocent man before. There's also never been a case of the US going back and re-examining evidence and realizing they were incorrect.

Sheesh, even three of the jurors who found him guilty are asking for the the courts to re-examine.

What else do you need to know??

Fine re examine the case...but once. I'm so tired of people getting 3 or four last minute clemencies. It's such a joke. "maybe if we give him a retrial that will bring those four people back."

You mean, in the same way executing him (and a possibly innocent man) would??

The only Hollywood limo-type around Sacramento is Arnold, the gang banging governor. Shove your media-conceived notions of left-wingers up your ass.

As for Cooper, there is enough doubt, if you've followed the case.

So by taking this argument, you imply that, if there is no chance that he's innocent, you'd drop the objections?

Or is this simply another dishonest argument by a liberal who is against the death penalty no matter what?

If the latter is the case, please leave your address with the authorities so he can stay at your place when he escapes.
