Most of us have said we think a solid, experienced backup CM is needed due to Petit's injury history and the current backup's inexperience. Baggio was looked at but that appears off for now. Why not try and sign Effenberg on a 1-year deal? He wanted to come to Engalnd before but his wages were too high. Sign him for a 20k per week contract and if he proves capable then he would be able to sign for another club after this season. He'd be as good as Baggio and wouldn't be asked to play too often.
