Well, here it is. The much anticipated battle of Jacksonville. This game means more for the Georgia Bulldawgs than anytime since 1982, when Georgia defeated Florida en route to an 11-0 season and the SEC championship. Time time, Georgia is 8-0 and to get to 13-0 and a shot for the national championship, the Dawgs once again have to go down to Jacksonville and take out the Florida Gators. However, these are more like the Pre-Spurrier Gators that consistently lacked any kind of bite against the Bulldawgs in generations past. While the Gators have all kind of talent, their coaching doesn't match Georgia's. Georgia proved it could put 52 points on the board last week despite missing three key offensive players. No wonder why the Florida fans have been quiet lately. They have no offense and no direction. While I expect the Gators to hang in there for two, maybe three quarters, the Dawgs will put another Dawg bone in the win column on the way to 13-0 and a national championship date in January.
I expect Gerogia to have a tough time with the Gators who will be loose and ready to salvage something for their season. I could see Georgia coming out quite tight at the start.
I will be honest with you, I have exactly this fear. This is why I am getting ticked off with my fellow Georgia fans who think this will be an easy one. I think we will prevail, but not without a struggle.
You know what I fear as much. Undefeated Georgia will play undefeated Ohio State for third in the nation. Then again, Ohio State would go to the Rose Bowl, never mind.
Oh man, this is a night game. Did the fans not have enough time to get really drunk for the day games?
This is almost always a night game. In Jacksonville, with about 50/50 crowd support, with the alcohol flowing, it COULD get ugly. Like that has never happened at a UGA-UF clash before.
Listening on Sporting News radio they said that this was the first time this game would be played at night.
I am getting really nervous now. It seems the injury problems are betting better. Musa Smith will play and Fred Gibson will be available (though not at 100%). I am concerned about the return game without Damien Gary though. It has been instrumental in ensuring good field position for the Dawgs all season. Here are some articles from ESPN.com http://espn.go.com/ncf/columns/sec/sunbelt/1030/1452630.html http://msn.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/harig_bob/1453784.html http://espn.go.com/ncf/columns/herbstreit_kirk/1453812.html http://espn.go.com/ncf/columns/gottfried/1453895.html http://espn.go.com/ncf/columns/fowler_chris/1453631.html Where are the Florida fans? Two losses got your tongue? Georgia wins and it is SEC title game we come!!!
You are right. Most of the games I have gone to have been late afternoon games (which went into the night - especially for us brooding UGA fans). This year, revenge will be sweet. I just hope we can get it.
13-12 Dawgs at the half. Florida leads in first downs 14-9 and total yards 219-161. Both teams have committed three turnovers (with two of Florida's being Rex Grossman interceptions.) GO DAWGS!!!
I was afraid that this would happen. I really think the SEC needs to look at the way it does its scheduling. Florida really should not get a bye week before this game. Georgia hasn't had a bye week since the middle of September. In this past, I don't think it was much of a factor. It may have been today.
That was fun. A lot of people (especially at my job) are gonna have to eat a lot of crow. I personally thought Georgia was overated all season long. Now, if only auburn or Ole Miss can take care of business and beat Georgia, we'll have the division crown. Who would have thought we might have had a chance of winning the SEC a couple weeks ago? ahhhhh, 12 of 13.
Funny how the Florida fans have been quiet all season long. They now come out of the woodwork like a bunch of chickenshits that they are. Georgia is still in the drivers seat in the east.
Gee, and HOW FAR behind me are you in the predictions race this year on espn.com? You should be embarassed because I haven't seen a game all year!
Yeah, we've lost a good amount of bandwagon fans this year. That's fine with me, the true fans have stuck with the team all the way through (even after the LSU loss). Your fans are no better than ours, BTW. Just go over to DawgVent. You guys have had a good season and you're in the driver's seat, but you're still our Biaaatch. Go Rebels and Tigers! Beat them poodles!
I haven't seen a game this year. I am THIRTEEN time zones away from the Eastern US. The fact that I am ahead of you at all should be an utter embarassment to you. I expected F-State and UF (not FU) to stink it up (comparatively speaking) this year. Didn't seem that hard to predict actually. FSU seems to be on a downward trend and UF has a first year head coach.
What did Mark Richt do in his first year that Zook hasn't done? Richt took over an 8-4 team that was coached by an idiot, and went 8-4 his first year. Zook took over a 10-2 team that was coached by a legend and was decimated by the NFL Draft, and he has a really good chance to finish the season at 9-3 or 10-3. And Zook won the Florida-Georgia game his first year.
