One year ago today (probably right around this time, actually), the US qualified for the World Cup. Thanks again, boys, for doing us proud!
I actually had forgotten about it all day, then driving home from work I got pulled over by a cop. On the way up to that game I got pulled over for doing 51 in a 35( i was excited + Pumped). Got a nast ticket, and points as well. Today I get pulled over for doing 51 in a 35, and while i'm in the car waiting, i remember the date, and i remembered a year ago. Brought a smile to my face, remembering that great diving header in the opening minutes, and how great the crowd was that day. Ha...best thing about today...I only got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt. If I get pulled over next year on this date I'm gonna start thinking something is very strange.
I remembered it because I saw a news crawl that said that today was the anniversary of when we started bombing Afghanistan, and then I remembered that I heard about that as I was walking into Foxboro.
i remembered when i was organizing some vcr tapes last night... one fell off the shelf and it just so happened to be that match against jamaica, monday is usually a slow television night perhaps i should put in the tape and watch the match...
I remember being a little upset that the game wasn't broadcasted because (of course) the US started bombing and the news was all over it. Then the next day when I found out we qualifed it made me realize how proud I was to be an American soccer fan. A good day it was.....
Same here. I just rewatched the last few minutes after we had won and we were waiting for the results from the other two matches. Great stuff. Sachin
I remember that, after the players did a fairly typical post-game celebration, things got calmer on the field. Then you saw some players jumping around and the celebration picked up again. We saw that and thought, "Wait a sec. Do they know the results?" A few minutes later the scores were announced over the PA system and the place erupted. Even the Jamaicans were joining in.
