I recently noticed that my right ankle (foot) has a much higher degree of flexibility and rotation in all directions than my left ankle. I have had a couple minor ankle sprains, nothing too serious, but I was curious: is this greater range of motion caused by using the foot much more (it being my dominant foot) or the result of ankle sprains?

I know that a web forum is the last place to be seeking medical advice, but I was curious to know if this just naturally occurs after years of soccer, and do other people have this much more flexibility in their dominant foot who haven't been severely injured?

Actually, I have been pondering this exact same question, but in reverse. My dominant foot (rigt) is LESS flexible. I thought maybe this is due to pushing off in all directions off of my left foot. Also, both of my ankles are extremely tight. In fact, they are so tight that it is hard for me to stretch my calf muscles because it hurts my ankes before my calf gets a good stretch. Any suggestions?

You should not come back too soon after spraining your ankle. They can become cronic. You should be working on the stiffness because that can become permenant.

Go to a pharmaceutical supply store they sell a exlastic band made for ankle flexability and use it every day for the rest of your life. When it fields better skip rope.
