There are no other possible, politically feasible, coalitions. At least not with the current personel(Angie and others). Snap elections is an option but not easily done. German president plays a key role there. Minority goverment too but that would be uncharted territory for German politics.

Thats because in the US it is meant racist and it clearly isnt here. That is why black American GIs in the 50ies/60ies were pleasantly surprised this place was far less racist compared to what they are used from home.

Ange announced she wants to run again for chancellorship in case of snap elections. AfD headquarters must be like

Snap elections somewhere between January and Easter likely.

From then on we are pretty much in uncharted territory for German politics and a lot seems possible:

AfD will win, FDP will win, Greens will lose, Angie's CDU will lose making the coaltition building even more difficult. Minority government is ruled out cause the last time we had one was during Weimar under Brüning(!). If Merkel doesnt win big against all odds and find a majority to govern she is really done. She will either step down on her own or her party will force her to resign. Merkel could step down and SPD will agree to a grand coalition under a new CDU chancellor. For instance Jens Spahn
