it says updated the 24th. I guess Bradley is cleaning house. Clearning up a lot of cap space if Andy Williams, Ross Paule and Balboa are gone. Then again, if they are gone, we don't really have midfield anymore.
After looking at that roster, only 8 return from last season, and only 4 were starters... talk about house cleaning.
williams and paule are no longer on the metrostars roster. the metrostars didn't pick up their option. thanks.
Obviously, this is a mistake. Andy Williams will be playing wide right in Bob Bradley's 3-5-2. The coach WAS going to release him, but thought twice about it when he learned Andy could play wide right by reading Bigsoccer. As for Paule and Balboa, they'll both be starters, as well. Anyone with half a brain can see that. Please, MLSNet, fix those rosters. I also notice Mike Burns and Matt McKeon are no longer on the KC roster. Just a bunch of mistakes.
Your 2003 MetroStars So, our line-up looks like this (subject to much change) .................. T-Ho .................... ...Pope........Addo..........Jolley..... .......R. Williams.........Moore........ ..................Clark..................... ......Zaidie...................Lisi......... .......Clint..................Moreno...... Well, I figured it would be a building season anyway.
Bradley must really want that #1 pick in next year's draft to sign Freddy Adu. He may only be 14, but he's Bradley's kind of player!
Someone sign McKeown! He's a human battle tank! This facial expressions on the fields can draw yellow and red cards!
With the players we have right now, I would like to see this lineup. ---Mathis----Moreno----Magee--- ------------------Clark-------------- ---Williams-----------------Lisi--- ------------------Moore------------- Ziadie/Addo---Pope-----Jolley--- ------------------Howard------------
Well, let's hope that the removal of Balboa from the Metro roster was not a mistake. If the MLS wants to start its own pension program for old-timers, that's great. Just don't make us take a salary cap hit for USNT folks who may have paid their dues back in the day, but can't suit up to help the club NOW.
We have the league's smallest listed roster -- 19 players, four of whom are P-40. How do C-Bus and KC have 24 players on their rosters, both with only one P-40?
Here's a word for the day that we can all carry into the MetroStars pre-season. A two-hyphen-word. Non-roster-invitees.
Re: Re: Andy Williams no longer listed on Metros roster... Your joking right? You don't actually think Bob scours the boards seeking position advice? If so, why hasn't he signed Gio already?
Personally I'm glad to see Paule go... he was good enough to make it into the starting 11 all the time, but certainly not good enough to make a difference. Midfield was the Metro's biggest problem last year in my opinion, and Paule earned most of the fault in my book. He was unable to hold and distribute the ball effectively. Anyone who begs to differ must have very low standards. I'm sorry for him personally, but very glad for the team. This is certainly addition by subtraction.
Discussion on the MLS forum says that these players were out of contract as of the end of 2002 or were in their option year that MLS did not pick up. I don't know if this means they are completely gone or that MLS is trying to renegotiate their salaries down to where they will fit in their teams' respective Caps. Also, Chris Henderson disappeared from the Colorado Rapids' roster a few days ago but now has reappeared. Whatever that means.
Re: Re: Re: Andy Williams no longer listed on Metros roster... Actually, Bob's planning to sign Gio, Rhett Harty and Roberto Donadoni for YOU the Metro fan.
Ahhhh Chris Henderson, someone I would have loved to have had on this team!!!! He would have solved our right wing problems for good.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Andy Williams no longer listed on Metros roster... please tell me the hired samba band will sit behind the goal
Attention Stat Boy ... Only Dan R, FYI mlsnet.com has Jaime Moreno listed as #9 and Eddie Pope listed as #23. You may wish to update metrofanatic.com accordingly .... or not.
I hope that Paule is re-signed by the league. I've always felt he gets a bad rap due to OZ playing him out of position. He's not a holding midfielder, but more of an attacking player. He provides good depth at midfield as either a starter or a sub. Williams also has talent, though I hope he can be re-signed at the lower cap # so another proven player can be brought in to run the offense, not to mention a quality winger.
