Andrulis: Coach of the Year

Chris Henderson needs to lay off the dye.

 

I don't think it's hard to argue at all. Expectations at the start of the season were low because of his 2003 performance. So he deserves an award for not screwing up as bad as last year? Gansler had his 3 best players miss significant portions of the season. What would our record have been if Buddle, Fraser and Busch missed lots of time? Gansler had more USOC games to fit in while juggling the lineup. KC still won more games than the Crew and finished tied on points. No brainer, Gansler is coach of the year.

What did Adu win?

 

The "I'm Freddy Adu Biatch" Award

 

"The Spoiled Little Dick" Trophy.

 

Given that this is SOLELY a regular season award, it's a good pick. He had the team playing well at the end of the year,* and the roster isn't exactly jampacked with great players. He melded Sanneh into the lineup well,* and got alot of production out of Buddle.* He handled the loss of McBride nicely.

*Notice that as I'm making the case for Greg, 3--THREE--of the things I cited are things he f'ed up in the playoffs.

 

Since it's a regular season award, no. Gansler and Andrulis are clearly the top two, the ONLY two, candidates.

Does anyone know who voted on the award?

 

Play of the year, for his goal against LA.

DeRo won goal of the year for his volley against...I forget whom.

Am I the only person wondering if they created the "play of the year" award in order to give something to Freddy? I've never heard of this award before.

 

He was the underage drinker of the year.

 

Is that the Games and Sports award or whatever. Isn't that award like given out by kids voting?

Anyway, this looks like a really festive occasion. You feel like asking "Hey, who died?"



Pope looks like he's got a load in his pants, Dempsey looks stoned and DeRo reminds you of a Male prostitute looking to make rent.

Andrulis looks like he's completely embarassed to be standing there holding Bob Gansler's trophy.

And Freddy - it's the first picture I've ever seen without that careful Nike-generated ear-to-ear grin. Maybe he reserves that for when he's got a beer in each hand and is getting rubbed up by a couple of chippies.

As far as know, the play of the year is new this year and is it given by kids internet voting. What a surprise that one of their peers won...
