I'm thinking of making a sign, banner, something, for our next home game. It would be for sacking our pathetic coach. Thoughts?
If the Crew get rid of Andrulis now, don't you see the continuation of a nasty trend. Personally I don't want Warzycha anywhere close to the head coaching job. I say let him finish off the year, wheather the Crew sink or siwm the rest of the year. His contract is over at the end of the year anyway, sack him then if he deserves it. If so, the Crew can take their time in the offseason picking the right guy for the job.
Well, so far most people are pushing for the banner... how about some thoughts on what to say? Also, maybe we need a banner questioning the players, as in "Do You Care? We Do!" type of a thing. Andrulis Ideas: - Take Responsibility or Take a Hike, Greg - Time is Running Out, Greg! Find the Answer, or Find the Door - FIRE THE COACH! - Too much Talent, Too poor Coaching - Here's a Tactic, LEAVE GREG
I agree with mysap. I'd rather give him another full season and evaluate at the end... I still think we'll be tops in the East when it's all said and done...
I don't think he should go at all. You do realise he is the only manager we've won anything with, and the seaon has just begun. If you don't give him the rest of the season, then you are just "silly". I agree with Baily, i think we'll be top or at least 2'nd in the division when all is said and done. It isn't like we are a joke to other teams, the do worry about playing us, which gets them to really step up their games. Seriously, i think he needs more time before you all start jumping on his back.
Just because he has won something in the past, is that really a reason to hold on to him? What if you could get Bruce Arena instead? Would you say, no thanks, Greg is our man because he won us something??? And what do you mean the season has just begun? We've already played 11 games, 11 out of 30 total. So we have already played 1/3 of our games. Not to mention the fact that we're a really impressive and intimidating 2-4-2 in our last 8 games... I bet that has other teams shaking in their little booties. Now, I'm not saying I want Greg out next week. I'm saying if you get a banner out there, he's going to see it, or a player will see it and mention it. He will notice that pressure for results is more adament from the fans. He will try harder if he thinks his job might be on the line. Get it?
And who could we get that would be better for the job? Sure, if there is some proven manager that really wants the job, that would be fine with me, but really, i want to see how this season finishes first. I still think we have the right players and staff to do something good this season.
OH, OH, or if if if David Moyes was available or even Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn't that be extra specta awesome. I think I see your plan. It's thier off season I bet we can get them to leave there clubs to coach for the Crew after we get rid of a third coach midseason. You don't think he has pressure? Take a look at his beard when he started and take a good look at it now. Trust me the average MLS coach lasts about two years or three years, I'm sure he feels plenty of pressure. The Crew just need to let him ride out his contract. Then if he doesn't do what was expected of the Crew this year(ie MLS Cup) they have all offseason to pick the right guy.
Don't be a fvckin idiot. I was proving a point that just because somebody has won 1 piece of hardware for you, that this is the guy you have to stick with. Teams get rid of these kind of coaches all of the time, just look at any other major American sport for some examples.
we have too much individual talent....not enough team chemistry. that starts and ends with management. i am not saying it is entirely andrulis's fault... i am saying management as a whole. we drafted and offensive player this past draft when we obviously needed defense. now who is our GM? money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money
"Too much Talent, Too poor Coaching" if this is correct than you might as well fire most mls coaches mls really needs foreign coaches
If we were to fire Andrulis would we have a coach in mind to take over? Would the league bend over backwards to help us like they have for some teams? Last time I checked Crew was not preceeded by LA,NY, DC, Chicago, SJ, or New England. All those teams have received significant help over the past few seasons with the other four teams getting the scraps. The Crew had an off night but I think it is too early to hit the panic button.
It's not time to panic, yet. Last night was truly ugly - DCU didn't win, we lost, and badly. Their B team made our B team look awful on a wet, crappy field. Nevertheless, perspective - we're the defending Cup champion, and we're TWO points out of first place in the east. Barring scandal, the middle of the season is always the wrong time to fire a coach. If the team has looked this bad all the way through November, then sharpen your axe.
Back in early '99, a group of Wizards fans started showing up at every game wearing paper sacks on their heads with "Sack Ron" written on them. A large banner that not so politely asked for Newman's removal was personally torn down by Ron's daughter!
Last I heard, this was a professional team attempting to run at a profit. WTF does Jim Smith have to do with this issue. Numerous individuals INVESTED major dollars to build a team/league and have a right to a return on investment (ROI). They are taking substantial risk and we're the sole beneficiaries -- so far. Would you prefer the Sisters of Charity rec league?
andrulis isn't the problem. maybe someone knows for sure, but have we ever been able to have same starting lineup for 2 games in a row this year? i doubt it because of injuries and callups. we are struggling a bit now but every team will in this league where every team is relativly close in talent. if you want to be taken seriously, make a banner that says "time is running out" or something to that nature, not "sack the coach". We're 2 points out of first, Andrulis won't be going anywhere mid-season unless we somehow fall to last place.
I'm just as irritated with that sorry way we played in DC. I don't know how I managed through that one. But, as some have said, its still early in the season, we aren't that far behind, etc. I say give it some time. By time, I mean the SJ match. If we play against SJ like we did against DC, then I won't write off our most recent as the abberation that I am hoping it was.
