Apparently the transfer is being held up at the moment because Novakovich has turned down Lecco in favor of Reggiana, despite the fact that they are offering less money for him. So the move is still up in the air. https://www.trivenetogoal.it/2023/08/21/mercato-venezia-e-giallo-novakovich-gli-aggiramenti/192734/
It should be noted that Reggiana is managed by Alessandro Nesta. He was in charge of Frosinone when Nova was there. There is an association with Nesta so one can assume that’s reason Nova may have turned down Lecco. It makes sense.
In the end, Novakovich accepted the Lecco offer and has signed with them: https://www.trivenetogoal.it/2023/0...ta-il-lecco-e-firma-gli-aggiornamenti/192773/
Lecco has confirmed the move: http://www.calciolecco1912.com/ufficiale-novakovich-e-un-giocatore-bluceleste/ As far as I can tell, the start of Lecco's season is delayed until Sept. 2 due to an ongoing court case in regards to their admission to Serie B, that stems from a stadium issue. There is some hearing on Aug. 29 that will determine whether they remain in the division, or if they are replaced by either Perugia or Brescia. From what I can interpret (with the help of auto-translators), it's more or less been settled in their favor since an earlier court decision on Aug. 3, and the decision on Aug. 29 is more or less the official rubber stamp. Assuming they remain, Novakovich will get to face his most recent team a couple days before Christmas.
It's going to be a fight for survival, since they don't have the money to upgrade anything. Even Nova is not exactly a proved Serie B quality player, he scored once in 36 games there. Lecco is going to need a lot more than that to avoid the drop.
Novakovich gets the start in the bizarrely delayed season opener. Trailing Catanzaro 1-0 near the half.
Since Serie B is the new source of USMNT starters, we should keep up to date on Novakovich. Went the distance in a 2-0 loss, and apparently missed a penalty kick.
Don't have to look far. Adda, meet Lecco. The Adda river is one of the protagonists of our territory. It originates in the Rhaetian Alps and flows along Valtellina to enter into Lake Como and then emerges from it in Lecco as an emissary forming Lake Garlate and Lake Olginate. It continues gently on its way and you can walk alongside the Alzaia to Brianza and to Milan
Novakovich starts and subbed off in the 53rd minute of a 0-0 draw that gives Lecco their first point of the season (only their third match due to legal squabbling, but still).
Battle of the titans today in Serie B, featuring a starting role for Novakovich. Lecco, fresh off their first point of the year, sitting in eighteenth partially on the strength of better goal differential compared to FearlpiSalo and Spezia. It's possible the reason they're ahead of GD is that they've only played three matches compared to 5 for Spezia and 6 for FeralpiSalo, who enter this match with one draw, five losses, one goal scored, and 12 goals allowed. So ... it's a winnable relegation six-pointer.
Calling all mods, calling all mods! Thread title change needed! @TheFalseNine @bungadiri @dark knight Andrija Novakovich at Calcio Lecco 1912 (Serie B)
@TheFalseNine @bungadiri @dark knight Could use a title change on this one, though he is only on loan to Lecco. Which might be good, because they're really struggling. Not quite over, but Novakovich looks to have played the whole match in a 3-0 loss to Cosenza. Seems like he played fine, but they'll struggle to stay up.
Novakovich starts and plays the whole match against Ascoli in a 2-0 loss. Stat sheet shows him with one shot and a lot of aerial duels, like they're hoofing it up high and hoping he can win the ball up there. Living the life of a last place striker. One point through seven matches.
They won a game! Stoppage time game-winner for a 2-1 road win. Novakovich credited with two shots, including a potential game winner a bit high and wide, and four chances created. First ray of hope for Lecco.
First ray of hope for Nova too. First game for Lecco where he was not a ghost. Even in that first game when he scored, that was it, he barely touched the ball beyond the goal.
