Do you think MLS is an option? He's 29 and will be 30 in Sept. Can he secure a nice contract in Europe given he's never played higher than 2BL or is time to come stateside? I would imagine several MLS teams would be interested.
MLS is very much an option for Wooten. There are a few teams interested - including some of the better teams.
Does he speak English? I think he's the only Germerican I've never heard say anything in English. All his interviews have been in German SFIK.
From Yanks Abroad: "Wooten's ties to the United States are strong. He speaks English and he lived for the United States for a year when he was a teenager. It's a time he remembers fondly. "I lived in the United States for one year with my father," Wooten recalled. "I lived in Virginia and it was a great time."" http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=8265
seems like westline puts Bochum as unlikely. https://www.westline.de/fussball/vfl-bochum/vfl-kandidaten-fuer-die-hinterseer-nachfolge
Although he could have continued to play in Germany seems like confirmation that he's out and headed to MLS. According to information from the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, the 29-year-old attacker is switching to Major League Soccer (MLS). He wants to announce his new club shortly. "Andrew deserves a strong season, even though his departure is bitter for us," commented coach Uwe Koschinat. Mikayil Kabaca speaks of a "bitter loss". "We tried everything to get him to renew his contract, but he said that his goal has always been to play football in the States," said the sports director. https://www.rnz.de/sport/svsandhaus...geht-und-ein-pfaelzer-kommt-_arid,446239.html
Forget the news that is the USMNT. I like the sound of this. I like the prospect of Wooten in MLS. Now the I wonder who that team is.......
6'1" and can score? I want him in Harrison. Also, he's not subject to the allocation order, so it's a discovery-based scramble.
I mean, I wouldn't expect the Red Bulls to sign anyone, especially a productive forward. Still disappointing.
Interesting....I’d love to guess Philly with Ernest Tanner’s German connections but does Philly need him? Maybe NE....I don’t know. I guess I’ll have to wait and see!
Pretty understandable - what dual-national kid growing up in Germany and playing pro soccer there doesn't dream of some day, one day, making it to one of the US pro soccer leagues. Kids, be like Lin and Wooten: Never give up your dreams.
Probably DC. They picked up Arriola and Canouse in recent years, Wooten fits the random overseas yank description. Plus when he lived in America it was in Virginia so it would be close to his old American home.
it is interesting the growing number of German-Americans going to play in USA. between Boyd, Wooten and Kiesewetter seems like Morales and Johnson are not extremely far away from going to the USA as well. Believe Morales was not far off from MLS before going to Fortuna. pretty much the late 20s/early 30s guys. Wonder if Williams is next?
Could buy one down with TAM if Wooten is coming in on DP wages or make Wooten a TAM signing. The latter seems more likely I don’t see Wooten being a DP.
