Badass! Men in Blazers introduced Wooten as the Union’s new signing. Sons of Ben..... getting the party started with a “Woot There It Is” chant

Now we'll have a direct comparison between 2.BuLi and MLS: with the Union having a good season, he should score at least the same he was scoring with the bottom-feeding Sandhausen.

Oh man. I should know better, "close to done deal" means nothing when it comes to the Fire.

Yeah on Reddit I said we were very close and from that point forward just assumed it was a done deal. This isn't the first time the Fire have botched something towards the end and I should have known better.

Why do people insist on continuing with this nonsense? Wooten's performance in MLS wont validate anything.

BWP is one of the most prolific goal scorers MLS has ever had. He was a League 1 player who signed for less than $100K.

That may be well and true, but for some reason Nelson was telling people it was close.

Liar! Watching players from BWP to Defoe to Altidore to Rooney to Bradley to Cameron to Miazga to Adams to Feilhaber to Shea to Kirovski to Mix to Edu to Add to Bedoya to Almiron to Davies to Harrison to Dempsey to Kean to Stern John to Howard to Ream to Beasley to Yedlin to EJ to LD to Convey to Maloney to Richards to etc. etc. has told us NOTHING! But Wooten, WOOTEN will be the data point to end the debate.

    Which is good.

Honest question, in your line of work, does it do you a disservice to publically state that the Fire were never serious before the signing by the Union is complete? I don't remember hearing that specifically from you prior to the announcement. It seemed almost like you, in this thread, were steering us that way, at least that's the sense I got from one of your posts.

Scores on his first touch of the game- and first touch in MLS... So I guess we've settled the league debate... of course, it was called back by by VAR. Kinda dubious. I guess he's owned by Philly? so he's not even a tangential YA.

I think a lot of times people forget to account for the fit of the system, the conference of the coach, the understanding of their teammates and comfortability in their city. sometimes it’s nothing to do with level of play and the it’s more to do with several other factors.

    Career update:

Like a lot of MLS mid-season acquisitions, Wooten didn't exactly hit the ground running. Philly in particular has a pretty rough track record with lower-division striker signings.

He concluded the regular season with:

    7 appearances (352 minutes), 0 goals, and 0 assists

Philadelphia hosts New York in the first round of the playoffs on Sunday.

Men in Blazers? Has any player coming to MLS been hyped like this and then scored zero (0) goals in their MLS career?

0 goals in 23 MLS games as a forward makes Chicharito look prolific!

Sitting dead last in the Bundesliga with 7 pts. Let’s hope Wooten can score some goals and keep them up.

Don't know about you, but given the choice between Philly and Moedling, Austria, I'm choosing the latter all day. I'm probably in the minority here though.

I spent a day at a wine festival in the vineyards of Gumpoldskirchen, which is the next town down the train line out of Vienna after Mödling. That area is spectacular - I'd move there in a minute.

Just like Moises Kean at Everton ("Ay, Keano/Everton Italiano/When he scores we all go crazy/When he scores we all go crazy"), the chant was too good and it doomed Woot-there-it-is...more like Woot-there-it-isn', amirite?
