Never really followed this BS forum before, but I just felt a need to say something about the death of Andrei Kivilev, and I guess this is as good a place as any.

For those of who you don't know, Andrei Kivilev was a cyclist. In the Paris-Nice cycling race Tuesday, he crashed. He was rushed to the hospital, and sixteen hours later was pronounced dead.

Cyclists crash all the time, so at first it didn't seem like a big deal. OLN has been showing the Paris-Nice, and today's stage was rode, but not contested (everyone rode together with the peleton in his honor), so today instead OLN showed an encore of yesterday's stage, which was really eeiry. When Kivilev went down, the commentators (obviously at that time not knowing how serious it was) mentioned his crash, said they hoped it wasn't too bad, an injury to him would really hurt his team, etc... Just was really eeiry when you know that in the end the crash was fatal.

I'd like to raise a glass to Andrei Kivilev, and I hope that everyone who loves watching sports would join me.

I have great respect for cyclists as it's one of the most grueling and dangerous sports out there. I always look on in amazement when I see these guys screaming down mountains at break neck speeds on wet roads, with only two thin tires. I'm very sorry to hear this news.

Very sad to hear of Kivilev's death. Just a couple of years ago he was 4th in the tour. Very talented.

Lance Armstrong had a nice tribute to him on his site as well.
